ViaPad helps families track accompanied driving in a clear, private logbook organized by learner driver.
Add trips manually, reuse frequent trips, start GPS tracking on iPhone, start a trip from Siri or CarPlay, and follow progress in the widget. The app helps you track kilometers, driving time, vehicles, practiced situations and progress toward 3,000 km or a custom goal in kilometers or hours.
Main features:
- Separate logbooks for each learner driver, with vehicles and settings shared across the family.
- Customizable driving goals: French AAC 3,000 km tracking or milestones in kilometers or hours.
- Assisted manual trip entry: date, departure, arrival, kilometers, duration, vehicle, notes and conditions.
- Place suggestions, automatic road-distance estimates between departure and arrival, trip duplication and return-trip creation.
- Frequent trips to reuse a regular route with its distance, duration, vehicle and conditions.
- GPS tracking explicitly started by the user, with real-time distance, duration and signal quality.
- Live Activities on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island to follow or stop a trip without reopening the app.
- Simplified CarPlay interface to choose the learner, select the family vehicle, start a GPS trip, monitor distance and stop the trip.
- Siri shortcut to open ViaPad and start a GPS trip if location access is allowed.
- Kilometer validation or correction before saving a GPS trip, with departure and arrival cities suggested when they can be resolved.
- Optional automatic stop after GPS inactivity, with a local notification if permission is granted.
- Local GPS draft recovery when a trip needs to be checked after an interruption.
- Trips grouped by month, with editing, deletion, swipe actions and contextual menus.
- Condition tags to track practiced situations: night, rain, motorway, toll roads, bridges, city, countryside, maneuvers, heavy traffic or parking.
- Family vehicle management, including the default vehicle, optional license plate and gearbox type: manual, automatic or electric.
- Progress statistics: kilometers, duration, condition coverage, gearbox type, monthly history, pace, AAC milestones and estimates when the pace allows it.
- iOS widget with active learner, progress, remaining target, monthly pace and latest trip.
- Private iCloud sync and voluntary family logbook sharing with invited iCloud accounts.
- PDF and CSV exports to keep or share a summary.
- JSON backup and restore for the family logbook, including learners, trips, vehicles, goals and frequent trips.
- About screen with goals, privacy, French AAC reminders, permissions, exports, JSON import and deletion of the active logbook data.
Privacy is designed in from the start. ViaPad has no ads and does not use advertising tracking. TelemetryDeck usage measurements are limited to technical signals and one anonymous event per saved trip: rounded kilometers, manual or GPS mode, and origin from app, Siri, widget or CarPlay. GPS is used to estimate the distance and duration of a trip started by the user; the full route is not stored in the logbook. Logbook data stays in the app and in iCloud if sync is enabled.
ViaPad is a personal tracking tool. The app is not an official service, is not affiliated with ANTS, a driving school or any administration, and does not replace the learning logbook, regulatory documents, driving school instructions, your insurance agreement or the obligations that apply to accompanied driving in France.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
- Frequent trips are now available in ViaPad: save a manual trip as a reusable route, then reuse its route, distance, duration, vehicle and driving conditions next time.
- Manual entry is faster: route estimates can now fill in the expected duration as well as the distance, while preserving durations you edit yourself.
- Home now surfaces more useful shortcuts: record a first trip, plan a situation that has not been practiced yet, or reinforce an under-practiced condition.
- Interrupted GPS trips are easier to recover: ViaPad keeps a local draft, lets you review and save it, or lets you explicitly discard it.
- JSON backups, imports and iCloud sharing now include frequent trips, with extra validation for restored files.
- Trip starts from the app, Siri, the widget and CarPlay, condition statistics, translations and display settings have been tightened to improve reliability.
