Your glaze chemistry studio companion — recipes, UMF analysis, firing logs, and a glaze-defect troubleshooter. Made for potters, by a potter.
Glaze Lab is your pottery studio companion — from glaze chemistry to the kiln. Everything in one place, all on your device.
RECIPES
Keep your glaze recipes, scale them to any batch weight, and calculate water for a target bucket volume — with a stock check against your inventory.
CHEMISTRY
See every glaze's UMF (unity molecular formula), its silica-to-alumina ratio, and where it sits on the Stull chart. Check glaze fit against your clay body and get the gentlest correction with the recipe doctor.
FIRING
Track a firing live as the kiln climbs, build firing schedules with ramps and holds, and look up temperatures in the cone chart (°F and °C).
STUDIO
Keep tabs on materials, clay bodies, test tiles, and finished work. Track sales and expenses in Studio Books, with CSV export.
LEARN
A glossary of dozens of pottery terms and a defects troubleshooter for crazing, shivering, pinholing, and more — with causes and fixes to try.
GLAZE LAB UNLIMITED
A one-time unlock lifts every cap and adds the recipe doctor and fit-fix suggestions. No subscription, no upsells — and your data never leaves your device.

I don’t make a lot of glazes but enough that it’s a pain to keep records of tests, recipes, variants, etc. And that is just the beginning! I can also track my live woodfirings, expenses, sales, and tasks. Goodbye excel, apple notes, notion! This app does it all. Actually one of my favorite tools is the batch calculator for glaze making.. you can actually set the volume of glaze you want, e.g. 4 gallons, perfect for a 5 gallon bucket and it gives you the amount of material and water you need based on your application type :D. Amazing and it’s free to download and well worth the unlimited upgrade.
All in one app!

This app has replaced so many spreadsheets, notebooks, to do lists and does everything better than I was doing it before!
Great companion

I now use this for all my pottery recipes
Glaze Lab now speaks German (Deutsch) — the whole app is localized, from
recipes and the chemistry tools to the glossary and the defects troubleshooter.
Also in this update: buttons across the app now respond with a satisfying
press, and the entire colored area is tappable — no more dead spots.
