Privacy + safety • Photos now auto-blur faces on-device before upload. The selfie heuristic asks you before blurring obvious self-portraits, and there's an explicit consent toggle for when you have permission from folks in the frame. • "Hide exact location" action on stories you've already filed — your home address can't show up retroactively. Randomizes the pin within ~500m and trims the dateline to the town only. Editorial • Opinion pieces are now labeled "OPINION" everywhere they appear. Opinions can't claim the Front Page lead and can't be witness-attested, so reporting and opinion never blur together. • Reporter Track Record on every profile — % of stories backed by 3+ witnesses, % at-scene. The editorial answer to a paid blue check: credibility comes from witnesses, not money. • Witness Timeline — every story now has a forensic record. A map shows where each witness was standing and a chronology of when they attested. Tap "Witnesses" on any story. • "Drop a Doodle" → "Witness this story" with a one-line explainer. The new label tells you what tapping it does. Discovery • Town Knowledge Graph: search now has a date-range picker and a "witness-backed only" toggle. Ask "what happened here, when, that the community actually backed." • Profile gained a Publish section pinning Papers, Magazines, and Journals one tap away. • Front Page lead is now reserved for stories with at least one witness — a brand-new post with zero verification won't claim the masthead. Monetization • Featured Story Boost: authors can pay $5 / $12 / $25 to pin their story to the top of the local feed for 24h / 3 days / 1 week. Boosted stories are clearly labeled "SPONSORED BY AUTHOR" everywhere — FTC-compliant native advertising. Quality • Fixed the sign-in race that could throw "Not signed in" on a first post. • Back button works correctly after publishing. • Sign-up fits on iPhone 17. • Following and Alerts tabs load properly. • Tap-to-dismiss-keyboard no longer steals the first tap on buttons. • You'll get an in-app banner the moment a new version is live in the App Store.
