Golf with Mates
Score, compete, settle up.
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
The scorecard your group actually wants to use. Live scoring, automatic bet settlement, and a full history of every round you play.
Golf With Mates is the scorecard built for the way friends actually play golf - not the polite tournament version, but the rolling Sunday fourball where someone's playing Stableford, two of you have a tenner riding on the back nine, and nobody's quite sure who owes who from last week.
Score live. Settle bets. Keep every round.
WHAT IT DOES
• Live, real-time scorecards — up to 4 players per group, 48 per round (perfect for society days and corporate outings)
• Full USGA handicap math, baked in — no mental arithmetic on the tee box
• Side bets that actually settle: skins, Nassau, Stableford, match play, best ball, scramble, foursome, Chapman, Köpenhamnare, BBB
• Course database with thousands of clubs — search by name, GPS, or add your own
• Offline-first scoring — keep playing when the signal drops, syncs when you're back
• Lifetime stats: rounds played, gross/net averages, best 18 and best 9, score breakdown, and bet winnings split by currency
• Live leaderboard you can share with mates back at the clubhouse via a single link
WHY IT'S DIFFERENT
Most golf scorecards are calculators with a UI. Golf With Mates is built around the social side: hosts manage rounds, friends join with a 4-letter code, and bets settle automatically based on the agreed handicap allowance. No spreadsheets. No "wait, what was Tom's net on 14?" arguments in the clubhouse.
FORMATS WE SUPPORT
Stroke play • Stableford • Match play • Skins • Nassau • Best ball • Scramble • Foursome • Chapman • Köpenhamnare • BBB • Custom side bets layered on top of any format.
LANGUAGES
English and Swedish, with full Swedish translations of every format name and scoring term (Stableford = Poängbogey).
PRIVACY
Your scores, friends, and bets are yours. We don't sell data, we don't run ads, and you can delete your account from inside the app at any time. Free to download and use.

• Mid-round handicap correction — noticed a handicap is wrong after tee-off? The host can fix it straight from the round lobby.
• PGA-style scorecard marks — eagles, birdies, pars and bogeys now show as proper circles and squares, plus a tidy score distribution strip for each player.
• Cleaner in-round highlights — we stopped replaying the whole stack of old toasts when you reopen an active round; only new milestones pop.
• Better eagle/albatross callouts in the round summary, whatever format you played.

What's new in 1.6.3
• Weekly Thursday nudge — a short, friendly heads-up every Thursday evening during the golf season (Mar–Oct) to remind you to book your weekend round. One push, no spam.
• Live in-round highlights are smarter — par streaks (3+ in a row) now show correctly, and your eagle chip stays visible even if you follow it with another great hole.
• Distance units follow you everywhere — set yards or meters once in Profile, and it now applies to closest-to-the-pin, longest drive and every side-bet unit too. New installs default to yards in US/UK/Canada and meters in Europe.
• More reliable emails — welcome, round-complete and first-round follow-up now fire consistently thanks to a new safety net that catches and re-sends anything that slips through.
• Better tee colors — added Gray as a tee color and fixed Spanish tee color labels.
• Improved scorecard design
• Smarter in-app nudges
• Smaller fixes and polish across the course search, admin tools and background reliability.

• Redesigned install banner — cleaner card with the real app icon and a single-language tagline; tap anywhere to jump straight to the App Store.
• Weekly Thursday tee-time nudge — a friendly push around Thursday 6pm to help you line up the weekend's round with your mates (seasonal, March–October).
• Feedback bubble no longer hides behind the bottom nav on a cold start.

• Swedish push messages — if your app is set to Swedish, your pushes now arrive in Swedish too.
• Grouped notifications — pushes from the same round now stack together on your lock screen instead of piling up.

What's new in 1.4.5
• Four-ball Match — a brand-new format. 2 vs 2, each player plays their own ball, the team's better net wins the hole.
• Match Play, upgraded — 4-player 1v1 in a single ball, tap-to-swap teammates in the lobby, and clearer "1 UP / AS / 2&1" statuses with colored team chips on the live leaderboard.
• Eagle alerts — when one of your mates makes an eagle or better, you get a push so you can chirp them in real time.
• Cleaner scoring — tapped the wrong number? New "Clear" button wipes a score back to empty. Same-first-name players now show a last initial on the leaderboard so you never confuse two Toms again.
• Fairer Loser's Round — Four-ball Match and Bestball now settle the loser pick using the actual match/best-ball result, not raw stroke totals.

1.3.2 May 26
Smoother invites, smarter scoring.
• Guest-to-player handoff: when a mate you added as a guest signs
up from your invite link, they're auto-joined to the round with
their real handicap — no duplicate rows, no chasing.
• Add friends straight from Create Round with a tap-friendly picker.
• Share your friend code with a single tap — new invitees land on
a welcome screen that explains what Golf With Mates actually does.
• Spotted wrong SI, par, distance, CR or slope on a course? Long-press
or tap the pencil on any hole to report it. We review every change.
• Distance units now respect your preference (metres or yards) across
the scorecard and course pages.
• iOS keyboard polish: form footers now glide above the keyboard
instead of hiding behind it, and the edit-hole sheet opens calmly
without snapping focus.
• Plus a stack of reliability fixes for realtime scoring, round
auto-complete, and password reset.
Thanks for every round and every bug report — keep them coming.
1.2.1 May 21
A big polish pass to make Golf With Mates feel properly native on iPhone, plus a few quality-of-life fixes you asked for.
NATIVE FEEL
• Swipe from the left edge to go back, just like you'd expect from any iOS app.
• Page transitions are smoother — no more flicker when jumping between screens.
• Subtle haptic taps on buttons, switches and toasts so the app feels alive in your hand.
• Faster cold launch with no flash between the splash screen and the first page.
OUT ON THE COURSE
• "Keep screen on while scoring" — your phone won't lock mid-round when it's sitting on the buggy. Toggle it in Profile → Preferences.
• Offline banner: a thin pill drops down when you lose signal and disappears the moment you're back. Scores you enter offline now sync automatically when reception returns.
• Cursor auto-advances to the next hole the moment everyone has scored.
PROFILE TIDY-UP
• Preferences redesigned — Language, Distance unit, Score entry, Keep screen on and Push notifications all in one consistent layout.
• Push notifications now have a single "Turn off all" master toggle, with per-event toggles dimmed instead of hidden.
• Friend deletion now asks you to confirm first.
• Lifetime stats keep getting smarter — best 18 and best 9 scores, side-bet winnings split by currency, your most-played course.
INVITES & SHARING
• Sharing a round or inviting a friend now uses your first name only — cleaner WhatsApp and iMessage previews.
• When someone taps your invite link, they see a clearer page explaining why they should join, and an App Store button right at the top.
BEHIND THE SCENES
• Stuck rounds are auto-completed after 72 hours so they stop cluttering your active list.
• Lots of little stability and performance fixes across scoring, bet settlement, and realtime updates.
Thanks for playing — keep the feedback coming!
