DeckHand pairs with a tech lead running CyberDeck (Pro). On its own it does nothing. Only buy it if your production already runs CyberDeck. DeckHand turns your iPad into the operator surface for a production running CyberDeck and Bitfocus Companion. Your tech lead builds a role in CyberDeck (Pro): the exact buttons and variables you need for your job, and nothing else. They hand it to you as a QR code. Scan it and you're running the show: press buttons live, adjust values mid-show, and stay inside the boundaries your tech lead set. REQUIRES CYBERDECK (PRO) DeckHand is the operator half of a pair, not a standalone controller. Before you buy, make sure: • Your production has a tech lead running CyberDeck (Pro) on their own device. • The production runs Bitfocus Companion 4.3 or newer, with satellite subscriptions and the HTTP API enabled. Your tech lead sets this up. Without these, DeckHand has nothing to connect to. WHAT YOU GET • Pair in seconds with a QR code, or a 6-character code if the camera can't reach. • A focused grid of just the buttons your tech lead exposed, with live button state straight from Companion. • Edit show variables (toggles, pickers, text and numbers) with validation, so a typo can't take down the show. • Roles stay in sync: pull to refresh, or just reopen the app, and your surface updates when your tech lead publishes changes. • Plain-language status when something's off: wrong Companion version, an API turned off, or a role revoked. BUILT FOR THE BOOTH • No account, no sign-in, no cloud. Pairing and control run entirely over the venue's local network. • Nothing is collected, ever. • Dark by default, with a light option. Designed to be glanceable on a mounted iPad. • VoiceOver support throughout. PART OF THE CYBERDECK FAMILY CyberDeck for Companion is the full control surface for tech leads and solo operators. DeckHand is its operator side: a locked-down surface a tech lead can hand to anyone on the crew.
