Somaphi doesn't play back loops or recordings. A native C++ audio engine on your device composes every note in real time — diatonic harmony, a sixteen-voice pad synthesiser, ambient textures and a precisely tuned frequency layer, generated in the moment, every time you press play.
— FIVE MODES —
• SLEEP. Delta range, D natural minor, cathedral reverb. A descending minor scale stretched into a long, slow release for deep sleep.
• DRIFT. Theta range, C Lydian, open-hall reverb. The raised fourth gives Lydian its floating, unresolved quality — the gap between waking and sleep.
• CALM. Alpha range, C# Major, warm hall. Major's clarity, slowed to alpha tempo. The resting frequency of a quiet, awake mind.
• FOCUS. Beta range, E Dorian, studio room. Minor but grounded — Dorian's raised sixth gives it a determined character that sustains attention without agitation.
• FLOW. Gamma range, F Mixolydian, bright chamber. Major with a flattened seventh — expansive, forward-moving, the harmony of momentum.
— THE METHOD —
Four layers, working together:
1. A native C++ audio engine. Every sound rendered locally, in real time. No streaming, no internet, no latency.
2. A sixteen-voice pad synthesiser with a natural bloom-to-decay lifecycle. The binaural oscillator runs at the precise frequency each mode is designed around. The ambient textures are DSP-generated, not recorded.
3. A diatonic harmonic sequencer voicing chords from each mode's scale. Three sequencer patterns — A, B and C — tuned per brainwave state, each with a distinct melodic character. Octave shifts and occasional chance notes keep them alive across long sessions. Symphony mode is fully generative: phrase and chord decisions made continuously by the engine, never repeating.
4. Twelve layered ambient textures — Rain, Ocean, Fire, Bowl, Chimes and more — blend with the harmonic layer to build the full sonic space.
A breath guide is built into every session: set your inhale length, and the orb pulses inhale to hold to exhale, synchronised to the sound.
