Read real Chinese, sooner. We added thousands of example sentences — short, natural ones built only from words you've already learned — so reading practice (with audio) is woven through your daily reviews from the very first days, all the way through HSK 3. Also: the character breakdown callouts now point exactly to the right part of each character.

Share your progress. When you clear your daily queue or reach a milestone, you can now turn your practice into a card and save or share it anywhere: cards reviewed, your study rhythm through the day, and how today compared to your usual. There are milestone cards too, for streaks, words learned, and finishing an HSK level.

Mò is now Wordbrush. Same app, same ink, a name you can actually tell your friends. Everything about how it works is unchanged. Also in this release: every word in the deck now has a "learn more" deep dive (78 compound words like 回来 and 这儿 were missing theirs), and audio cards gained a replay button on the flipped face, so you can hear the word again any time.

Stability and speed release. Fixed a crash that could end a session mid-review, and a scheduling bug that left some cards invisibly stuck in the queue: if your due counts looked inflated or a session ended early with cards "remaining", both are resolved, and the stuck cards will flow back through your reviews naturally. The session progress bar now tracks the live queue instead of an estimate, the today recap breaks down your accuracy by card type, and completed sentence cards can be swiped away in any direction. Under the hood: card-to-card transitions and audio start faster, the home screen renders instantly on launch, statistics tabs switch without recomputing, and the app respects Reduce Motion and Dynamic Type in more places. Note: this update requires iOS 18.

Tap "learn more →" on any flipped card to expand into a deep dive on the word. Every entry is hand-curated and covers six things: fun facts about the word's origin or use, a side-by-side comparison with similar words you'd confuse it with, the most common collocations, usage notes that catch the non-obvious rules, character anatomy with etymology, and extra example sentences. Sources are CC-CEDICT, the LCMC frequency corpus, Hanyu Dazidian, Outlier Linguistic, and Wiktionary. Nothing invented. Coverage spans the entire deck, over two thousand words. So you'll meet a "learn more →" link on almost every card you flip. Tap it, scroll through, tap "less ↑" to collapse, and keep going. Smaller fixes: example sentences animate in more smoothly, the back card no longer flickers on first reveal, and a few component annotations were corrected.

Tracing cards now teach. The first time you meet a character, you trace it over a numbered ghost. As you grow more familiar, the card moves to stroke-by-stroke practice, then a hot/cold heatmap where the canonical character reveals itself as you trace it correctly, and finally a blank pad once you've mastered the form. Stroke direction cues guide every prompt. A new "words per day" setting replaces "cards per day." One word now bundles recognition, audio, production, and tracing the same session so you build a coherent picture of each character instead of cycling fragments of one across days. Existing cards backfill in gradually so no one gets a hundred new prompts in a single day. Sentences flow more freely, settings respond instantly, and the undo banner is now persistent until you rate the next card.

Two new card formats joined Mò: sentence cards, where you fill in each missing word slot from a length-matched set of options, and tracing cards, where you write the hanzi with your finger on the 田字格. Plus 600 hand-curated example sentences spanning HSK 1 through 3, each with natural human-style narration, and a redesigned stats screen with swipeable tabs and a pace projection toward your next HSK milestone.

Mò 1.4. You can now pick your station on a map for the smart-commute reminder. Pan the map to position the pin, then adjust the reminder radius with a slider, anywhere from 50 to 500 meters. The geofence updates live so you can see how close you'll need to be when the reminder fires. Previously, you had to be physically standing at the station to pin it. Now you can set it from anywhere, ahead of time.

Mò 1.3.1. Sessions are now snappy. The next card is fetched in the background while you're looking at the current one, and the persistence work (saving your rating, updating stats, re-fitting the algorithm) is deferred so it can never block the next card from appearing. Tap a rating; the next card appears with the swipe-out, no lag. Fixed: new users no longer see the "you're done for today" screen for a few seconds while the first card loads. A subtle 墨 brand mark stands in until the card surfaces. Fixed: faster scheduler queries on every session start.

Mò 1.3. Every HSK 1, 2, and 3 word now in the deck, 2,200 in total, each with a hand-curated example sentence and native audio for both the word and the sentence. The HSK levels unlock in order: finish HSK 1 before HSK 2 starts, finish HSK 2 before HSK 3 starts. A new "by HSK level" section in Statistics shows how far you've progressed through each tier. And the big iPad refresh: a two-column home with the calendar on the left and your daily focus card on the right, a larger study card so the hanzi reads as a real focus, a wider statistics layout, and onboarding redesigned for the bigger canvas. iPhone is unchanged.
