IRCv3 • Authentication: SASL — PLAIN, EXTERNAL (CertFP), SCRAM-SHA-256, and OAUTHBEARER. STS auto-upgrade to TLS, STARTTLS • Transport: WebSocket support • Messages: message tags and IDs, server-time, echo-message, labeled-response, standard replies, and batches. • History: CHATHISTORY with event playback, read markers (MARKREAD), multi-line messages, and message redaction. • Presence and membership: account-notify, account-tag, away-notify, extended-join, chghost, MONITOR (and extended-monitor), multi-prefix, userhost-in-names, invite-notify, setname, WHOX, bot mode, and account extbans. • Client tags: typing indicators, threaded replies with jump-to-parent, reactions, and channel-context. • More: metadata (avatar, color, pronouns, status), network icons, channel rename, account registration, FILEHOST uploads, and pre-away. Privacy: bIRC connects only to the servers it is configured with. No analytics, no tracking, no account. Remote content — avatars, inline images, link previews — is off by default; when enabled it is fetched over HTTPS, through a configured proxy if one is set.
