Turn every safari into a story. Snap, identify, and journal the wildlife you meet, then track your streaks, badges, and challenges. Jungle Journal is a field naturalist's companion built for Southern Africa. Photograph wildlife, identify what you saw, log it in a beautiful journal, and learn the story behind every species. All four come together in one app, all of it works offline. PHOTOGRAPH Open the camera and shoot. The app frames your photo, scores it for composition and clarity, and lets you save the best take. Every photo stays on your phone. Nothing is uploaded for identification. IDENTIFY An on-device AI recognises 333 Southern African species the moment you take the shot. Birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals. No signal, no cell tower, no waiting. When the model is fully confident it tells you what you saw. When it is not, it shows the top three candidates so you can pick the right one. If none of them match, save it as a Mystery Sighting and reclassify later from your Profile screen. JOURNAL Every sighting joins a beautifully crafted leather and paper journal that grows entry by entry, just like the field notebooks of the great naturalists. Three field books, all curated by class: Aviary, for birds, from the Lilac-breasted Roller to the African Fish Eagle. Herp Log, for reptiles and amphibians, scaled and remarkable. Safari Ledger, for mammals, from the Big Five to the smallest mongoose. Cover photos, location stamps, date stamps, quality ratings, and Polaroid-style sighting cards you can share with friends. Your journal is a record you will want to come back to. LEARN Each species opens into a full profile written in the field-guide tradition. Habitat, behaviour, conservation status, range, distinguishing features, and the conservation story behind it. The Discover screen surfaces a species of the day, upcoming conservation events, seasonal wildlife highlights for your region, and field stories that make sense of what you are seeing out there. BUILT-IN KRUGER MAP A detailed offline map of Kruger National Park. Every camp, every gate, every waterhole, every picnic site, every lookout. A drive-time estimator helps you make it back to camp before the gates close. A LIVING COMMUNITY MAP Choose to share a sighting and it joins a community map other naturalists can see. Sightings appear with their exact location so you can use the map to find what is being seen near you. Only two groups of species are blocked from the community map entirely: rhinos and pangolins. Both face direct illegal-trade poaching pressure, so their sightings stay on your phone and nowhere else. Conservation always comes first. FIELD HONOURS AND STREAKS Earn badges as you build your journal. Hit a daily capture streak. Photograph an Endangered species and the moment is preserved forever. Your rarest find and most active biome are stamped onto your member card. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Photos stay on your phone. Identification runs on your device. We never see your images or your unshared journal entries. GPS coordinates are only ever uploaded with the sightings you explicitly choose to share to the community map, and only when the species is not on our protected list. The only thing on our servers is your account and those shared sightings. POPIA and GDPR compliant. Sign in with Apple supported. Delete your account in two taps. OFFLINE FIRST Photography, identification, journal, species profiles, map, drive-time estimator. All of it works without internet. Designed for the bush. WHO IT IS FOR Field naturalists. Birders. Safari goers. Herp enthusiasts. Biology students and teachers. Anyone who has ever wished they had a beautiful, permanent record of what they saw out there. Begin your journal. Capture. Catalogue. Conserve.
