Dozent turns a walk into a guided tour. The audio starts on its own the moment you reach a stop — no fumbling for the right track, no staring at a screen while the building is right there in front of you.
A DOZENT IS BOTH
A dozent is a teacher. A dozent is also a student. Everyone here is both.
Today you are walking Lisbon, and someone who has lived there thirty years is telling you which staircase to climb. Next month you are the one recording your own neighbourhood, for a stranger who is about to walk it for the first time.
Learning comes first — most people arrive to listen, and never do anything else. That is fine. But the tour you are listening to exists because somebody who knew a place decided to say something about it. When you know a place that well, the same door is open to you: record it, drop a pin where the story happens, publish it. Every tour is reviewed before it goes live, so what you hear is worth the walk.
No studio required. No production company. Know a place, and have something to say about it.
ALSO ON THE MAP
Not everything worth knowing is a tour. Alongside them you will find more than 500 short videos from people who film the places they love — architecture, food, history — each pinned to the spot it was shot, and playing without leaving the app.
And where several tours cover the same building or square, they share one place page, so everything about a single spot sits together.
A GROWING MAP
More than 2,000 stops across dozens of cities on six continents — over 1,500 recorded tours, plus hundreds of short films pinned where they were shot. New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, Kyoto, Rome, Madrid, Amsterdam, Berlin, Hong Kong, Seoul, Rio de Janeiro and more. That is a snapshot, not a limit. Tours arrive wherever someone knows a place well enough to talk about it, so the map keeps filling in.
Every stop carries photographs and a full transcript, if you would rather read than listen.
TWO SHAPES OF TOUR
• Single pieces — one place, one short piece of audio. A few minutes, then back to your day.
• Walks — several stops strung together, each one starting by itself as you arrive. Prefer to pick your moment? Some tours play tap by tap instead.
WHAT YOU'LL FIND
• History — the stories behind the places
• Architecture — the buildings worth slowing down for
• Art — public works, in context
• Food and drink, parks, sacred sites, and the corners only locals know
HOW IT WORKS
Open the map, find something near you, press start, and put your phone in your pocket. Dozent watches for the moment you arrive at each stop and begins the audio then. Keep walking; it keeps up.
LISTEN TOGETHER
Walking with someone? Start a group and everyone hears the same sentence at the same moment, so nobody is a paragraph behind.
BUILT FOR WALKING
• Lock-screen and AirPods controls work end to end
• Audio keeps playing with the phone in your pocket
• Download before you go — the audio and the photographs both — and a tour plays with no connection at all
• Save what catches your eye into lists you can come back to
• Designed for iPhone, and at home on Apple Vision Pro
NO ADS, NO TRACKING
No advertising, no analytics, no tracking. An account is optional for listening — browsing, playing and downloading all work without one. Sign in to sync your library between your devices, or to publish tours of your own.
Filters, rebuilt. The row above the map is now four panels — Tags, Dozents, Format and Price. Choose as many options as you like in each, and every option shows how many results it will leave you with.
