The biggest update Zhongwen Hover has had. Every word now comes with an example sentence, and there is a whole new window for reading up on one. A SENTENCE FOR EVERY WORD The app carries a second bundled database: 141,873 example sentences one for every dictionary headword, not only HSK vocabulary plus a memory aid and a usage explanation for 108,841 words, 1,001 chengyu write-ups and 68 near-synonym clusters. The popup gained a sentence pager and an optional memory-aid section (Settings → Popup). A BREAKDOWN YOU CAN CLICK Characters in the popup breakdown sit in chips and open the word window the popup says what a word is made of, the window says what else those characters turn up in. Each chip now shows the sense and reading the character carries in this word: 产 glosses as "property" inside 产权, and 乐 reads yuè inside 音乐. THEMES EVERYWHERE The skins used to reach only the popup. Now they skin every window. ten appearances in all System, Light, Dark, Rice Paper, Ink Stone, Cinnabar, Jade, Cactus, Cactus Dark and NASA. Two new settings alongside: an accent colour independent of the skin, and four tone palettes (classic, colour-blind safe, muted ink, vivid). READING THE DICTIONARY ITSELF Leaf through CC-CEDICT A–Z by pinyin initial, or through the entries that are not Chinese at all, with a switch for whether they show up on hover. Coarse language can be kept out of the hover popup. Senses are ordered better: 焦 now glosses as "burnt" rather than "surname Jiao", 药 as "medicine" rather than "leaf of the iris". FIXED • Pinyin under a sentence took its colour from the first syllable of each token, so zīliào came out flat red • The popup pin ( and ⌘⇧P) never held • The opacity cycle (⇧⌘T) skipped a step after moving to a new word • The magnifying glass was hidden on 期 and most of the dictionary • The memory aid was printed twice in the word window • The breakdown vanished when the popup re-showed from a recent-word pill • A–Z browse repeated entries across page boundaries • The Dock icon quietly lost detail for anyone who never touched the icon picker

This update gives Zhongwen Hover a fresh look and a few new features: You can now set where the pop-up appears. Two new color themes: Rice Paper and Ink Stone. An updated Recent counter. A cleaner, less cluttered pop-up card. Character Breakdown and Single Character Breakdown, two new ways to pull a word apart. CSV export, so you can carry your saved Zhongwen Hover words straight into Goat HSK.

User Interface got reviewed. Card Sizes got more stable. Memory of last cards seen quick access to last seen cards.
