NEW - Embeds. Keep scenes made only for embedding — a logo sting, a lower third — in their own list in the scene strip, out of playback, export and the video's length. Right-click a scene and choose Move to Embeds. Insert ▸ MoveMatic Scene lists them first. - Disable Row. Right-click a timeline row's name to switch off a property's animation, a Follow motion, a Visibility row or Pulses without deleting anything. - A Ramp behavior that moves a property to a target over the length of its bar, and a Stick end that holds a behavior's last value. - Paste SVGs as vector image layers. Burst to Shape follows an SVG's own paths. - A new color picker with opacity, a darkness strip and a screen eyedropper. - A Baseline setting for text on a path. IMPROVED - Text on a path spaces its letters evenly over crests and troughs, keeps kerning pairs together, and sits on the line. - X and Y behaviors add to a Follow Path route, so a layer can wiggle or bob along it. - Per-character behaviors play on text laid out along a path, and per-character position and rotation are offsets from each letter's own place. The Per Segment setting now comes first. - X and Y behaviors on a laid-out group's children swing around their slot. - A cursor's motion trail keeps the hover look each echo had at its moment. - A group laid out by its scene centers like any other laid-out group. FIXED - A video that moved since the document was saved no longer shows Video missing until you scrub. - A video downloading from iCloud appears as soon as it arrives, without a scrub. - Words in typing-on text no longer hop between lines as they type. - A fixed-size group no longer tints the paused canvas purple.

NEW - Burst to Shape particles. A particle layer can fire its particles out from its center to form the outline of another layer — text, a shape, a line or an image — hold the shape, then let them fall away. Particles also get a start color. - Line height for text layers, animatable like any other property. - Auto layouts align on both axes. Scenes and fixed-size groups can place their row at the start, center or end along the layout direction too, and a fixed-size group lays its children out inside its own box. - Quick Look for MoveMatic documents: Finder shows a thumbnail of each .mvm file, and pressing Space previews it. - Embedded scenes get a Background switch, and Insert ▸ MoveMatic Scene lists this document's own scenes. Embeds of this document's scenes stay current without Update from Source. - Click the keyframe diamond next to a layer's name again to keyframe every property, and once more to clear the playhead's keyframes. - The Assistant gets a Stop button, Shift-Return for a new line, and ⌘C to copy chat text. - A % / s toggle on a video clip's Speed field. IMPROVED - Much faster with very large scenes: editing, scrubbing, the timeline and export keep up with a thousand layers or more. - With shared scene settings on, the background stays still through scene transitions and only the layers move. - The playhead and timeline drags snap only to items the timeline is showing, including those in a group's Children rows. - Auto layouts close up around hidden layers and layers outside their visibility spans, sliding the rest into place. - Align and distribute work against the active alternate layout. - A cursor following a layer lands by the tip of the cursor it's drawn as, so a hand from a hover effect points with its fingertip. - Replace Font lists every font in the document with its own Family and Style pickers. - Better VoiceOver labels and more complete translations throughout. FIXED - Typing-on text no longer wraps partway through or shifts when it finishes, on the canvas or in export. - Selection boxes for layers inside nested horizontal and vertical groups appear where the layers are drawn. - Keyboard shortcuts no longer reach the document behind an open dialog. - The playhead stays inside the scene when its duration shrinks. - Undoing a duplicate reselects the original layers. - Replacement videos in alternate layouts relink after they move.

NEW - Scene auto layout. Set a scene to Horizontal or Vertical in the inspector and its top-level layers line up in stacking order, centered on the canvas, with a gap and alignment you choose. Drag a layer to reorder it. - Searchable font pickers. Text layers get separate Family and Style pickers that preview the layer's own text, with full keyboard navigation. - Letter spacing for text layers, animatable like any other property, plus an All Caps toggle. - Behaviors can ease in. A new Start & End section lets a behavior tween in from the property's natural value instead of starting abruptly. - Math in number fields. Type 120+40 or 1920/2 and the field works it out. - Per-character and per-word reveals and type-on now work on text on a path. - Right-click the playhead's select button to select every item of one kind on the timeline. - Set an exact length for a zoom's start and end transitions. - Double-click a group in the Layers panel to open or close it. IMPROVED - Zoom layers are easier to work around: select one by its outline, drag a selected one from anywhere inside it, and click through it to the layer behind. Unselected zoom outlines stay visible on any content. - Paste lands directly above the selected layer and keeps its position on the canvas, even across groups. - Snapping only considers layers visible at the playhead. - Particle systems fade out after their visibility span ends instead of vanishing. - Videos stored in iCloud download in the background with a placeholder, instead of holding up the document. - A filled text layer's rings radiate from its padded, rounded fill box. - A freeze-frame video clip is hatched along its whole timeline bar. - Letter-spaced text no longer carries a trailing gap. - Return closes the timecode popover. FIXED - Cursors following targets inside an embedded scene now render. - Click ripples and hover areas on items in horizontal and vertical groups appear where the items are drawn. - A span ending a hair before the scene's end stays visible on the final frame. - A line with a stroke width of 0 draws nothing instead of a hairline. - Videos still syncing to a cloud folder are treated as downloading, not missing.

NEW - Show or hide layers per layout. Hide a layer in one layout and keep it in the others, or show one there that's hidden in your main layout. - Reorder horizontal and vertical groups on the canvas. Drag an item along the row and the others make room. - Replace Image… and Replace Video… in the canvas's right-click menu, plus Replace with Clipboard… for image layers whenever there's an image on the clipboard. - Choose the scene and layout when embedding a MoveMatic document, and switch layouts later in the inspector. IMPROVED - Faster re-exports: only the parts of a project that changed are rendered again. - Embedded scenes play their zooms and render exactly as their own export would, including fades, pulses and other span effects. - Embedded scenes come in at their scene's own canvas size. - Replacing an image or video in a layout fits the new media inside the layer instead of stretching it. - Horizontal and vertical groups list their layers in canvas order, and stagger and timeline sorting follow it. - Selection outlines use alternating accent and white dashes, so they stand out on any background. - Exports of the main layout carry its name in the filename. FIXED - Undoing a change to an animated layer shows the result right away, instead of after the next edit. - Switching a group to Fixed size keeps the box it had, rather than jumping to an old size. - Items in horizontal and vertical groups no longer drift when dragged or nudged, and the row stays put when its first item changes.

NEW - Alternate layouts. Make a 9:16, 1:1 or any other version of your project without keeping separate documents in sync. Choose New Layout… from the layout menu above the canvas: every scene and animation from your main layout carries over, and in the layout you only change the canvas size, margin and where things sit. Auto repositions layers to fit and can scale them too, text rewraps instead of stretching, zoom layers re-frame the shot, and image and video layers can use their own media. Export any layout, or every layout at once. - Disable a scene. Right-click a scene to leave it out of Play All Scenes and whole-project exports while keeping it in your project. The scene strip shows the running time with and without it. - Shared scene settings. A Shared switch in the scene inspector keeps canvas size, margin, frame rate and background the same in every scene. - Text sizing. Text layers can Fit their text, use Auto height (you set the width, the height follows as the text wraps) or stay Fixed. - Resize several layers at once with the handles on the selection's outline. - A 1920×1200 (16:10) canvas size preset. IMPROVED - Scene duration and pauses moved to a popover on the timeline's timecode. Drag the Duration label to scrub it. - Snapping works inside groups, Shift-click adds or removes layers within a group, and dragging keeps your selection together. - Dragging an unselected timeline item moves just that item, and the empty strip below the tracks starts a marquee. - Combined timeline bars use your accent color, and their layer list moved to the right-click menu. FIXED - Dragging a combined timeline item right after selecting it works on the first try. - Marquee-selecting combined items no longer requires covering their full height. - Dragging a marquee toward the scene strip no longer makes the timeline grow.

NEW - Speed control for embedded scenes. Speed an embedded MoveMatic scene up or slow it down from the inspector, just like a video clip. Its bar on the timeline stretches or shrinks to fit, and the inspector shows how long it runs at the new speed. - Total running time. The scene strip now shows the length of your whole project — every scene, plus transitions and pauses — right beside the + button. IMPROVED - Simpler trimming. Trim… is now the one place to trim a video clip; the separate Trim field under End Behavior is gone. - Trimming follows speed. A clip's loop or freeze section on the timeline moves when you change its speed, and dragging a sped-up or slowed-down clip's edge stops at the real end of its footage. - Better Trim Video window. Portrait and other non-widescreen videos are no longer squashed in the preview, and the trim handles stay fully visible at the very start and end of a clip. - Cleaner crop window. The tips sit above the image instead of covering it, the magnifier only appears while you nudge with the arrow keys, clicking anywhere off a handle deselects it, and Undo steps back through your crop changes without touching the rest of your project. - Quicker way back to scene settings. Clicking the canvas background or the Scene row in the layer list now shows scene settings, even when a timeline item was selected. FIXED - Splitting a looping or freezing video clip now gives both halves the right trim, and Split at Playhead works on clips inside groups. - Pressing Space during an export or Quick Render no longer starts playback behind it. - A video clip starting during playback can no longer freeze the app.

NEW - Copy and paste any property. Right-click a property's label in the inspector to copy its value, then paste it onto another layer — or into any text field. Works for numbers, colors, menus and switches. - Copy and paste scene settings. Right-click a scene — in the scene strip, on the Scene row of the layer list, or on the canvas — to copy its size, frame rate, timing, background and transition, then paste them onto another scene or onto every scene at once. IMPROVED - Crisper text shadows. Shadows cast by text now hug the letters instead of spreading into a haze. - Smooth slow motion. Slowed-down video plays smoothly in preview instead of stuttering and replaying bits, and back-and-forth loops play in reverse properly. - No blink between video clips. When one video layer ends and another begins, the cut is clean during playback and scrubbing. - Playhead line reaches the scrubber. The playhead now runs in one unbroken line from the timeline's thumb down through the tracks. - Matching accent color. With your Mac's accent color set to Multicolor, MoveMatic now uses the indigo from its icon. FIXED - Layers that hand off at the same moment no longer both appear on that frame — previously the outgoing layer could double up with the incoming one, darkening shadows and strokes. - Stepping frame by frame with the arrow keys now lands exactly on each frame, so it always shows the same picture as clicking there.

NEW - The newest Claude models for the assistant. Choose Claude Opus 5.5, Opus 5, Sonnet 5 or Haiku 4.5 in Preferences › Assistant. If you had picked Opus 4.7 or Sonnet 4.6, you're moved to its successor. - Replies appear as they're written. The assistant's answer — and, on Opus 5.5, a short note before each step — shows up in the chat as it's generated instead of all at once at the end. IMPROVED - Long edits finish. Big multi-step requests no longer get cut off or time out partway through. - Text pops in from its center. Text the assistant animates now grows from its middle rather than its top-left corner, and one-line text is trimmed to fit. - Clearer when something goes wrong. If Claude declines a request, the chat says so, and an edit the assistant sends in the wrong shape is now accepted or explained so it can try again.

NEW - Reset a property in one step. When a property has keyframes, Reset Property in its keyframe menu in the inspector, or on its name in the timeline, clears every keyframe and keeps the value it has at the playhead, so nothing on the canvas jumps. - Jump up to the parent group. Press \ to select the group that holds the selected layer, or the scene itself when the layer isn't in a group. Press it again to keep climbing. FIXED - Groups inside scaled groups look the same on the canvas as in the export. When a scaled group held another scaled group, the canvas placed the inner group's contents slightly off from where exported movies put them. - Scaled groups no longer shift as their contents appear. A layer inside a scaled group used to nudge the rest of the group each time it faded or popped in. - The selection box fits layers inside scaled groups. It used to come out too large and off to one side.

NEW - Anchor the canvas when you resize it. A 3×3 grid under the scene's Width and Height picks the point your content stays pinned to, whether that's the center, a corner or an edge, so growing or trimming the canvas no longer leaves everything hugging the top left. - Export at 30 or 60 fps. The export sheet has a Frame Rate menu. 60 fps plays smoothest, and 30 fps renders in half the time and makes smaller files. IMPROVED - Softer shadows. The Low, Medium and High shadow presets spread wider and fall off more gently, for a more natural look. Layers already using a preset pick up the new look. - Every exported movie has an audio track. A video with no sound now carries a silent track, so upload tools that turn away soundless movies, app previews among them, accept it. - A margin guide that shows on any background. The scene margin is now drawn as black dashes over a white line. - Simpler motion blur settings. The half-resolution Fast option is gone. If you had chosen it, exports now start with motion blur off. FIXED - Hover and click effects inside groups now export. Scale, lift, glow and click ripples on layers inside a group appeared on the canvas but were missing from exported movies. - Dragging a selection of keyframes moves every one of them. On a layer inside a group, the keyframe you grabbed used to stay behind while the rest of the selection moved. - A keyframe followed by a wait stays editable. With the playhead on that keyframe, you can change its value in the inspector and on the canvas again, instead of finding it locked as part of the hold.

FIXED - Exports draw the right image. With two documents open that began as copies of one another, an export could pull an image out of the other document. The cache that keeps exports fast told images apart in a way that two same-sized pictures could share, and every cached image is now identified by its own contents.

NEW - Crop to an exact size. The crop editor now has width and height fields, in source pixels, for images and video alike, capped at the source's own dimensions so you can't ask for more than is there. - Hold Shift to keep proportions. Dragging any crop handle with Shift held preserves the shape the crop started at, anchored on the opposite corner. - The editor steps back while you play. Panels fade and stop taking clicks during playback, so the canvas is the only live thing on screen. The transport buttons and the time ruler stay bright and usable. IMPROVED - Cropped media animates around what you can actually see. Slide transitions and the scale and rotation pivot now measure from the cropped region instead of the original uncropped frame, so a tightly cropped clip no longer slides in from empty space or spins around a point outside itself. - Jump to a new time while playing. Clicking the time ruler during playback now carries on from where you clicked, instead of snapping back to where it was. FIXED - Re-exported video stays in step. Replacing a video file with a newer version of itself no longer leaves a clip running past the end of the footage, which rendered as blank, and exports no longer quietly use the old copy of a file you replaced.

NEW - Cut-out images radiate from their artwork. An image with transparency now emits radiate rings that hug the outline of its opaque pixels, the way text rings hug the letters, instead of a rectangle around the whole image. - Cursor glow and radiate rings are blue by default. A cursor's glow and radiate rings now use a clear accent blue instead of a muddy halo, and an Auto / custom color control now appears on any layer whenever its hover Glow or click Radiate is turned on. - Video shows in the scene overview. The whole-scene summary shown while you edit a single layer now includes each video clip, so you can see where footage sits on the timeline. IMPROVED - Cleaner radiate on text and cut-out images. These rings now expand strictly outward along a smoothed silhouette, so they no longer show stray inner arcs, blocky edges, or hatching as they grow, and they render much faster. - Exported glow matches the canvas. Hover and pulse glows now export at the same strength you see on the canvas, instead of appearing faint. FIXED - Smoother video playback. Video preview no longer occasionally jerks back a few frames while the playhead keeps going. - Dragged-in media links the original. Dropping an image or video from Finder now references the original file instead of a temporary copy. - Group outline stands out anywhere. The dashed bounding box of a dynamically sized group now alternates colors so it stays visible against any background.

FIXED - Radiate rings match their shape. A pill-shaped button now emits pill-shaped rings instead of plain circles, a rounded group borrows the roundedness of its largest element, and a ring triggered by a click now looks identical to one triggered by a direct pulse on the same object. - Text radiate rings trace the letters. A text layer's rings now hug the actual letterforms as they expand, instead of a rectangle around the whole text box. - Motion trails don't darken shadows. A layer's trailing ghost copies no longer each cast their own drop shadow, so a trail no longer reads as an unusually heavy shadow.

NEW - 3D groups. Any group can go 3D — children get a Z position that projects them toward or away from a shared vanishing point at the group's own bounds, with a Focal Length control for how dramatic the perspective reads. Rotation X and Rotation Y warp a child into a true perspective trapezoid around its own anchor. An optional Focus Distance & Aperture pair adds depth-of-field blur, and children now paint back-to-front by Z instead of layer order. - Per-character, word, and line granularity. Text Reveal effects, Follow Layer's fly-in, and every property Behavior (Oscillate, Wiggle, Spring) can now run per character, word, or line instead of on the whole text block, each with its own stagger. - A real curve editor. Keyframe easing gets a draggable cubic-bezier curve editor alongside the presets — save your own curves as named, reusable presets. FIXED - Trails now save with the document. The Animation inspector's Trails toggle used to reset to off on reopen — it's now part of the saved document. - Scene pause honored in single-scene export. Start & End pause now holds the opening and closing frame the same way when exporting the current or a specific scene as it already did across all scenes, with clip and music audio staying aligned to the held frames.

FIXED - Move-path mode is consistent across every gesture. With the timeline toggle set to Move whole path, scrubbing, field arrow-nudges, and the canvas arrow keys all shift an animated layer's X and Y keyframes together — none of them drop a stray keyframe. Set keyframe at playhead still records on already-animated properties. - Align to Canvas respects groups. Aligning a layer that lives inside a group now lands it on the canvas edge you picked instead of off by the group's offset. - New layers land on whole pixels. Adding a shape, text, cursor, or any other layer — from the menu or a canvas drop — now snaps its position to whole-pixel coordinates for crisp rendering.

NEW IN THIS UPDATE Distribute & Stagger, together - One Distribute sheet with two modes: Sequential lays items end-to-end with a set gap; Cascade fans them out from a common start, with a curve to spread or compress the spacing. - Move, Distribute, Expand / Contract, and Retime now preview right on the timeline and commit in a single undo step. Added - Start & End pause for a scene — hold the opening frame before it animates and the final frame after. - Duplicate Keyframe (and Option-drag) clones a keyframe half a second later. - Copy a layer's timeline and paste it onto another. - A keyframe's value now shows in its inspector and is editable inline. Changed - Dilate is now Expand / Contract, grouped with Move, Distribute, and Retime, with anchoring at the selection's start, center, or end. - Retime previews on the timeline instead of editing live, and applies in one step. - Alignment snap guides now show for every timeline item — spans, keyframes, pulses, video clips, behaviors, and follows — and run continuously between layers. - When no layers show in the timeline, one click adds them all. Fixed - Marquee selection no longer grabs a neighboring layer's follow or motion bar. - A multi-type selection of stacked bars drags as one. - Resetting a timeline now clears follows and behaviors too. ALSO INCLUDES (from the previous update) Motion Trails - A Trails toggle makes a moving layer leave a short series of fading ghost copies behind it. Added - Dashed and dotted strokes. - Two-tone radiate rings that read on any background, now working on groups. - Sharper line shapes — arc bend and wave amplitude scale with the line's width. - Copy Properties now carries fill and text gradients. Changed - Punchier click effects, with the cursor and the element it presses sharing one spring. - Cleaner timeline aggregates with clearer outlines, a selection glow, and collapsed pulse counts. - Smarter Auto-Fit Duration that trims to content immediately and grows with keyboard moves. - Clearer Follows — new follows default to Stick, and target rows are labeled. - The Assistant applies real typography and composition. Fixed - Editing, scrubbing, or resizing a keyframed property records at the playhead again. - A video layer with several clips shows every one in the aggregate view. - Duplicating a layer gives its clips, behaviors, and motions fresh IDs. - The "moved N items" note counts only items that actually shifted.

FIXED - Zoom keyframes hold steady. Resizing an animated zoom no longer nudges the position of its other keyframes. - Dragging a zoom at a keyframe now reaches any on-screen position instead of snapping to a too-high vertical limit.

INTERACTIVE EFFECTS — HOVER, CLICK & HOT SPOTS - Hover and click reactions are now per-layer. Any layer can react to a hovering cursor or a click, each as its own mix-and-match set of effects — no more wiring everything through a single cursor target. - Hover effects. Scale, Glow, and Lift (the layer rises off the surface with a soft drop shadow) play while a cursor or touch hovers it. - Click effects. Scale, Glow, and the new Radiate — concentric rings rippling out from the click point — which replaces the old “Ripple.” - Hot spots can drive effects on their own. Add Pulse and Visibility to a hot spot to author full hover and click reactions without needing a cursor layer at all. - Pop out the UI beneath a hot spot. A hot spot now lifts the actual image area below it — a button, toggle, or menu item in a screenshot — and animates it with the hover and click effects. Static UI in a screenshot reacts as if it were built natively in MoveMatic. ADDED - Behaviors on gradients. Oscillate, Wiggle, and Spring now animate gradient fills, sweeping both color stops. - Group blur. Blur now applies to an entire group as one silhouette, on the canvas and in exports. - Animation Origin shapes your animations. The Origin you pick controls how a layer resizes under behaviors and keyframes. A center origin grows a width or height animation evenly on both sides; an edge or corner origin pins that edge or corner. CHANGED - Bolder behavior defaults. A freshly added behavior starts with a much larger, more visible range. - Min and Max can't cross. Both the slider and the numeric readout stop cleanly at the limit. - Frequency slider tops out at 3 Hz for finer control over the useful range. - New defaults. New behaviors start at 5 seconds; new documents open with a 30-second scene. - Driven properties read-only. Inspector rows for a property currently driven by a Behavior or Motion dim and show a not-allowed cursor at that point on the timeline. - Scale X / Y removed from the timeline “+” menu for individual layers. Leaves animate their footprint through Width and Height; groups still use Scale. - Denser particle clouds, with a higher emission-rate ceiling. - Timeline ripple respects scene duration and span ends, so trimming no longer disturbs items already past the end. - Fill and Stroke are now Fill Color and Stroke Color, alongside the new Fill Gradient track. - The timeline layer “+” menu now opens upward. FIXED - Color edits apply on the first change instead of needing a second one. - Rewind rebound to ⌘⌥← — the old Esc shortcut was unreliable. - Renaming or rearranging scenes no longer creates blank undo steps. - Click and pulse effects can now be fully unchecked — turning everything off finally sticks.

ADDED - Touch layer. A mobile-style touch point — a translucent finger disc — for demoing taps, swipes, and gestures. Find it in the Cursors menu wherever you insert a layer; animate it with keyframes, a visibility span, and Pulse markers. - Align & Distribute bar. Select two or more layers and a floating toolbar gives you six align and two distribute actions. When objects are evenly spaced, set the exact gap between them — scrub it, step it, or type it. - Doubled pulses. A toggle fires a pulse twice in quick succession — a double-tap / double-click rhythm. Pulse glow rings can now use a custom color, alongside the auto-derived one. - Edit Times modal for Visibility / Behavior / Motion bars, with Ripple controls and per-target editing of Start, End, and Duration. - Copy / Paste Value on keyframes, across compatible types. - Video Tutorials window, from Help or the Welcome screen. The list streams from the MoveMatic site, so new tutorials land without an app update. - Embed MoveMatic scenes. Insert ▸ MoveMatic Scene… links a .mvm as a single layer; Update from Source pulls the latest. Embedded scenes animate on the canvas and render to MP4. - Export each scene as its own file, via the Export sheet's "All Scenes (Separate Files)." - Preview Camera Zooms during playback, so the canvas matches the export. - Hold easing on keyframes — an After Effects-style stair-step, with dashed direction indicators between keyframes. - Click a row name to select every item on it; Shift-click extends. - ⌘⇧K splits the selected video clip at the playhead; ⌫ deletes selected clips. - Numbered duplicates increment ("Scene 2") instead of appending "Copy." CHANGED - Align, distribute, and group position edits honor your keyframe-vs-translate-path setting, the same as dragging on canvas. - The Cursor and hover-override pickers now show icons. Pulses added to a cursor layer default to Radiate + Scale. FIXED - Groups show their true on-canvas position in the inspector instead of a near-zero offset. - Marquee-selecting keyframes grabs only the property rows it crosses, and the selection box now appears for multi-selections inside a group. - A mixed selection of keyframes, holds, and pulses drags together. Move-to-Playhead on a hold-end moves the hold, not the keyframe. Ripples stretch and shrink holds. - Alpha is preserved when re-importing MoveMatic's own ProRes 4444 / HEVC-with-alpha exports. - Freeze-frame end behavior freezes during playback instead of drifting. - Set In / Set Out ripple matches the edge that moved. - Gradient fill keyframes animate; solid-fill keyframes on gradient layers redirect to the right track. The inspector shows live Stroke and Fill values as the playhead moves. - Assistant no longer freezes on tool calls and retries once on rate limits. Zoom keyframe clamps, text padding, nested-group selection chrome, and embedded-scene size preservation are all fixed too.

Big update! A few (a lot of) highlights: PICTURE-IN-PICTURE & EXPORT - Transparent export: export with an alpha channel (ProRes 4444 or the much smaller HEVC-with-alpha) so you can composite the animation over other footage. Audio can be included. - Layer blur now exports, rendering in the MP4 just like on the canvas. - Shadows animate: keyframing a layer's shadow tweens smoothly between presets.
