HomeStead is a smart, offline-first grocery planning app that learns what your household buys, predicts when you'll run out, and adjusts suggestions for parties, vacations, and holiday meals. No account, no server — your pantry and grocery data stays on your device. WHY HOMESTEAD • Stop forgetting essentials. Smart Suggestions rank what you're most likely to need next, with a plain-language reason ("usually weekly", "ran out 3 days ago", "needed Saturday"). Add, snooze, or skip — the engine learns from each tap. • Stop double-buying. Add a duplicate by mistake? HomeStead asks whether to bump the quantity or skip. • Stop juggling lists across stores. Shopping Mode auto-splits your list by the store you usually buy each item at. • Stop guessing what to bring. The Events tab seeds party / guests / vacation / holiday-meal chip catalogs. HOW IT WORKS PANTRY • Track what you keep on hand, grouped by zone (Fridge, Freezer, Pantry, Cleaning, Bathroom, Pet, Closet, Medicine Cabinet, Garage, Office). Quantity steppers, not vague toggles. • Item detail shows purchase history, price history, and predicted run-out date. • Filter by zone, stock state, or recurring vs. one-off. Bulk-select to re-assign zone or category. GROCERY LIST • Quick add by typing or voice — prefers on-device speech recognition, with a hosted fallback if unavailable. Review the transcript before it commits. • Build a Smart List on demand: review proposed items, deselect what you don't want, commit. • Collapsible category sections, 5-second swipe-to-delete undo, item-detail editor. • Share the list as plain-text via the system share sheet. SHOPPING MODE • Start a trip, optionally split by store. Check items off as you go. • Three cost modes: Off, Receipt total, or Per-item pricing, with a wheel picker and recent-prices chips. • Save a partial trip and resume later; a trip can span multiple stores and sessions. • Scan a paper receipt to reconcile prices — entirely on-device. EVENTS • Plan parties, guests, vacations, holiday meals, or custom events. • One-tap suggestion chips per event type seed the items you'll need. • Upcoming events boost your weekly suggestions; vacations dial them down before you leave. INSIGHTS • 30-day stats are free, always — spend, top categories, smart-suggestion acceptance rate. • Unlock 12-month trends and price anomalies with Remove Ads or a 24-hour rewarded ad. BUDGETS • Set a monthly budget, an optional weekly budget, and per-category budgets. Progress shows on Home and on Insights. CUSTOMIZE • Region-aware setup seeds locale-relevant categories ("Pulses & Lentils", "Sauces & Condiments") for South Asia / East Asia / Global households, or the Western default. • Add custom categories and zones, or rename / hide built-ins. • Manage your own stores; pin a preferred store per item. • Toggle units between Imperial and Metric — existing entries convert automatically. SIRI & SHORTCUTS • "Hey Siri, add milk to HomeStead" works via App Intents. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT • Offline-first. Pantry, lists, history, events, and budgets live on your device. • No account required. No sign-up. No password to forget. • Optional iCloud sync via your private CloudKit container — your data, your iCloud. • Reset Pantry Activity in Settings wipes purchase history and active lists while preserving your catalog and household setup. • Ads and opt-in diagnostics are covered in the App Privacy section below — your pantry and grocery data is never sold or shared for advertising.
