Folders now sit at the top of your notes list. Tap a folder to open it right there and see its notes; long-press a note to move it into a folder.

Folders are here. Make a folder from the + menu, then press and hold a note and choose Move to Folder. On iPad, your folders, notes, and the open note sit side by side. On Mac, folders open in the sidebar, and you can drag notes into them. Folders sync with iCloud, so they look the same on all your devices. When you delete a folder, you choose whether its notes go with it or stay in All Notes.

Made for iPhone Duo. Unfold it to see your notes and practice side by side; fold it and everything fits the outer screen. Download only the voices you want. Each voice now has its own download: the first natural English voice brings its engine (about 300 MB), and every one after that is about 6 MB. Chinese is smaller too, and progress shows real sizes. Keep practicing with the screen off. Notes and flash cards now keep speaking in the background and on the Lock Screen, like your music app. The Lock Screen, Control Center and the Dynamic Island show the sentence you're hearing, and you can pause, play or skip to the previous or next sentence from there, or with your AirPods and CarPlay. Pulling down Control Center no longer pauses your flash cards.

Capture sentences from a photo. Point your camera at a textbook, a menu, or a sign — or pick a photo — swipe the lines you want, fix anything the camera misread, and add them straight to a note. List numbers and speaker labels are removed for you. On iPad, draw boxes around text with Apple Pencil while your fingers pan and zoom. New notes can start from a photo too, and first-time setup shows the new flow. New for English learners: Study and Check. In Study, swipe across a word or phrase you don't know to see its meaning, nuance, example sentences, and where it comes from (adapted from Wiktionary), explained in your device's language. While editing, turn on Check to see grammar fixes inline — only what's wrong, never a rewrite of your style — then accept or ignore each one. Study and Check need Apple Intelligence.

This update focuses the voice catalog on English and Chinese so every included voice meets our quality bar. Audio export is fixed for all voices, voice downloads now verify themselves and recover cleanly from an interrupted download, and Apple Watch now tells you when a sentence cannot be played instead of failing silently.
