PrairiePay: Alberta Take-Home
Paycheck salary & tax estimate
$2.99 · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Enter any Alberta salary and see what actually lands in your account, then put the same salary against Ontario, BC and Quebec to see what you keep by staying in Alberta.
PrairiePay turns an Alberta salary into the number that actually lands in your bank account, then shows what that same salary would leave you in Ontario, British Columbia and Quebec. Enter a gross figure, read the full deduction breakdown, and see the gap in dollars. Everything is calculated on your phone.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Enter your pay as an annual salary, a monthly, bi-weekly or weekly amount, or an hourly wage with your hours per week
- Read your net take-home for the year and for each pay period, with a bar splitting what you keep from what goes to deductions
- See every line behind the number: federal income tax, Alberta income tax, CPP, the additional CPP2 contribution and Employment Insurance, plus your total deduction rate
- Add an optional annual RRSP contribution: it comes off your income before tax is worked out, shows as its own line, and the tax lines and the net figure update
- Open The Alberta Advantage and run one salary through Alberta, Ontario, British Columbia and Quebec at the same time
- Read a bar for each province against an Alberta reference line, with net pay, monthly take-home and the gap versus Alberta on every row
- Turn on the sales tax view, enter a monthly spending figure, and see the yearly sales tax in each province, since Alberta charges no provincial sales tax
- Save a take-home result, pin the ones you check often, and share a clean text breakdown of a result or of a comparison
- Read the About screen for the brackets, credits and ceilings behind the math
HOW THE COMPARISON WORKS
Each province is computed with its own rules, not a flat percentage. Ontario adds its surtax and Health Premium. British Columbia applies its tax reduction credit. Quebec uses QPP in place of CPP, adds QPIP, and applies the federal Quebec abatement.
WHO IT IS FOR
Anyone weighing a job offer or a move between provinces, hourly and salaried workers who want the real per-period figure, and anyone in Alberta who wants to see the deductions behind the deposit.
PRIVACY
PrairiePay works offline. There is no account, no sign-up and no server. Salaries, RRSP amounts and saved results stay on your device and are gone when you delete them or remove the app. No ads, no tracking, no analytics.
The interface is available in English and French, apart from the parameter tables on the About screen, which are in English. It follows your system light or dark appearance.
PrairiePay gives an estimate for a single employed resident with employment income. It is not tax advice, it is not affiliated with any revenue agency, and it does not replace your official pay stub. Check any number that matters with a qualified accountant.
