Bay Area to LA, LA to Vegas, and every long drive in between. Drivers already making the trip share their seats and split the gas. Book in the app or at seatsherpa.app.
Seat Sherpa is long-distance rideshare for California and Nevada: Bay Area to Los Angeles, LA to Las Vegas, San Diego, Sacramento and the drives in between. Find a driver already making the trip, book an open seat, and split the cost of gas.
It’s carpooling done right — friendlier than a bus, cheaper than flying, greener than driving alone.
HOW IT WORKS
Drivers post trips they're taking anyway across California and Nevada: SF Bay Area, Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, Fresno, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Palm Springs, Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas. You pick a seat, pay securely, and agree on a pickup spot in chat. At pickup you read the driver your 4-digit code. That starts the trip and releases the payment.
SAFETY FIRST
Every driver verifies a phone number, uploads a driver's license and confirms identity through Stripe. Riders see the driver's photo, trip count and reviews before booking, can filter for women drivers, and can block anyone. Cancel free up to 24 hours before departure. If the driver cancels, you get 100% back.
DRIVING ANYWAY?
Post your trip in two minutes and riders cover a share of your gas. Deposits go straight to your bank. Rental cars welcome.
Seat Sherpa is cost-sharing carpooling, not ride-hailing. Book in the app or in your browser at seatsherpa.app.
I was a little nervous going in, but I needed to go from LA to San Francisco and this app offered a trip that was a fraction of the price of a plane ticket. I ended up booking with a driver, and although we come from different walks of life, we had many nice conversations during the ride. The trip to SF went so well, that I ended up booking my return trip through Seat Sherpa as well. Trust your instincts, but you might want to try this app if you’re curious!

Costs are rising so quickly so I’m blessed to have found this app. Now I can visit family in the Bay Area without driving and paying an arm and a leg.
Awesome way to travel

Flights were expensive over Labor Day, saved me a couple hundred bucks going up to SF
Great App!

Love the 4th option as mentioned it makes you rethink transportation!
• Post rides with up to 6 seats (vans and 3-row SUVs)
• Stop times now include a buffer for traffic and charging stops
• Changing your departure time? The app now offers to edit the ride instead of cancelling it
• A reminder if your account is missing an email or one is bouncing, so confirmations reach you
• Faster, cleaner booking and posting, plus bug fixes
