CalligraphyStrokes is a focused trainer for the foundational strokes behind every calligraphy hand — and a place to practise them.
PRACTISE ON THE CANVAS
Trace each stroke on a pressure-aware practice canvas. Glide up for whisper-thin hairlines, pull down for bold shades — the ink swells and thins as a real pointed pen would. A dashed guide, slant lines, and a start dot show you exactly where to begin. Hairline upstroke, shade, underturn, overturn, compound curve, and the pointed-pen oval.
A CLEAN STROKE REFERENCE
Every stroke across ten hands — Copperplate, Spencerian, Italic, Foundational, Gothic blackletter, Uncial, modern pointed, modern brush, East Asian sumi-e, and Arabic — with the right nib and ink, the letterforms it builds, its character, where to use it, and what to avoid.
AN AI CALLIGRAPHY COACH
Ask concrete questions — "why do my upstrokes catch and spray?" — and get specific guidance grounded in pen angle, pressure, and slant.
A PRACTICE JOURNAL
Save a note against any stroke — what to focus on next time — and build a record of your progress.
Everything runs on-device. No account, no analytics.
The stroke reference, the practice canvas and the journal are free. CalligraphyStrokes Pro lifts the daily limit on AI coaching so you can keep asking follow-ups until a stroke clicks — monthly or yearly. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation; it renews automatically unless turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the period, and you can manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings.

The in-app calligraphy coach was answering the wrong subject. Ask it about nib angle or pressure and it would reply with cooking advice — confidently, and with no error to tell you something had gone wrong. It now answers about calligraphy, every time, and the offline fallback does too.
Also in this release:
• The practice canvas and journal are unchanged, and the whole reference stays free.
• Fixed a bug that kept the stroke page redrawing itself in the background and drained battery.
• The keyboard can now be dismissed from the question and note fields, so it no longer covers the tab bar.
• Clearer subscription terms on the Pro screen, with the price, renewal terms, and links to Terms and Privacy shown before you buy.
• Corrected wording throughout the app that had been left over from another title.
