Photograph a banknote and get a likely match in seconds. Every result opens with an estimated retail value range in USD, plus the country, denomination and series year. Banknote Identifier turns your camera into a field guide for paper money. Photograph a note, front or back, and get a likely match in seconds, led by an estimated retail value range in USD. WHAT ONE PHOTO GIVES YOU - An estimated retail value range in USD, at the estimated grade - The issuing country, and the issuing bank or treasury - The denomination, the year printed and the series designation - The substrate, cotton-linen paper or polymer - An approximate grade on the IBNS scale, as a range where needed - A rarity descriptor, from common circulation to a star note - An overview of who issued it and why it is notable - The security features printed on the issue, as part of its design - The diagnostic markers the issue is catalogued by - Quick facts, interesting facts, one fun fact and a confidence level AN ESTIMATED RETAIL RANGE, IN US DOLLARS The value leads every result, because whether an old note is worth anything is usually why the drawer got opened. The field is short by design: a bounded range in US dollars, "Face value" when a note is worth what it says, or "Varies widely" when condition and signature variation dominate. It is a retail range for an issue like this one at the estimated grade, not a figure for the paper in your hand. A retail range, not a dealer buy price. Value ranges are collector estimates in US dollars, not currency conversion. OLD, FOREIGN AND INHERITED NOTES A shoebox from a house sale, a grandparent's album, the notes left over from four countries at the bottom of a bag. Paper and polymer, any era and any country: circulating issues, obsolete and demonetized ones, hyperinflation notes with a row of zeros. A photo that is not of a banknote comes back with low confidence and says so, rather than with an invented name. WHAT THE NOTE ACTUALLY SHOWS Who is on the portrait, what the reverse motif depicts, which security features are printed on this series. Star notes, signature combinations, series transitions, and the printing-facility hint carried by the serial prefix. Handling and storage notes come with the result, including why you should never tape or laminate a collectible note. ASK ABOUT THE NOTE YOU JUST IDENTIFIED Premium adds Ask AI: follow-up questions about the note in front of you. Series and signature varieties, IBNS grade ranges and how wear moves a grade, star and error notes, what a radar or solid serial means, storage and design history. It stays on paper money and does not wander off topic. YOUR COLLECTION, KEPT Tap Save on a result and that scan is stored on your device with its photo, so a drawer you emptied on a Sunday turns into an album you can read back later. No account. WHO IT IS FOR - Anyone clearing out a drawer, an attic or an inherited album - Travellers with notes left over from several countries - Collectors cataloguing what is already in the binder - Anyone curious about who is on a note and what it depicts HONEST ABOUT WHAT A PHOTO CAN DO An identification here is a best-effort AI suggestion, not an authoritative determination. A value estimate from a photo is not an appraisal and not an offer to buy. Grading a note requires inspection in hand. The app identifies an issue from a photograph. It does not assess the specific note in your hand. Grade turns on creases, pinholes and paper quality that only in-hand inspection shows, so the result gives a range and a confidence level rather than a single figure. Identification needs an internet connection. Scans you have already saved stay on your device and can be reopened at any time. The app interface and the results are available in 33 languages. PREMIUM Free includes 2 identifications per day. Premium lifts the daily limit and unlocks Ask AI. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and you can manage or cancel yours in your App Store account settings at any time.
