Welcome to Learn Elvish: Quenya Course, a dedicated way to learn Quenya, J.R.R. Tolkien’s elegant Elvish language of Middle-earth.
Whether you are a lifelong Tolkien fan, fascinated by constructed languages, or simply want to learn something completely different, Vardalambë takes you from your first Quenya words to building real sentences and understanding the language’s grammar.
LEARN QUENYA STEP BY STEP
Work through a structured course that gradually introduces vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and sentence building.
You’ll explore topics including:
Quenya vocabulary — family, nature, verbs, pronouns, and more
Grammar — plurals, pronoun endings, verb classes, past/present/future tenses, possessive forms, and other essential patterns
Pronunciation — listen to Quenya words and sentences and practice saying them yourself
Sentence building — put words together and apply what you have learned in context
PRACTICE IN DIFFERENT WAYS
Lessons are built around a variety of exercises rather than simply memorizing word lists. Depending on the lesson, you may:
• Match Quenya with English
• Type translations and answers
• Unscramble words and build sentences
• Choose answers from multiple choices
• Identify words from pictures
• Listen and respond to Quenya audio
• Practice speaking and receive pronunciation feedback
• Review material you previously missed
