Scroll Volume is a tiny macOS utility for the one thing you do a hundred times a day. Move the cursor to the top of the screen, scroll, done. The entire menu bar becomes a volume target — no clicks, no menu to open, no keyboard shortcut to memorize. The gesture is shorter than the thought. WHAT IT DOES Scroll Volume listens for scroll events that happen over the macOS menu bar and translates them into system volume changes. One notch of scroll, one step of volume. It works the same with a trackpad, a mouse wheel, a Magic Mouse, or any input device that reports scroll events. There is nothing to learn — if you can scroll, you can use it. ANYWHERE ON THE BAR You don't aim for a small icon. The whole menu bar, edge to edge, is the scroll target. Flick the cursor upward and scroll. That is the whole interaction. INSTANT, PRECISE, OUT OF THE WAY No clicks. No popovers. No HUD covering your work. The system volume indicator shows the change like it does for any other volume input. The app itself lives quietly in the menu bar — open it only when you want to tweak settings or check status. IPHONE COMPANION (OPTIONAL) Scroll Volume ships with an optional iOS companion app that turns your iPhone into a wireless volume wheel for the paired Mac. Pair once, then spin the dial on your phone to adjust the Mac's volume from across the room. The two devices talk directly to each other over Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework (Bluetooth and local Wi-Fi). Nothing is routed through our servers — there are no servers. The Mac app on its own does not need the internet for anything. PRIVACY BY DEFAULT Scroll Volume collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no crash reporting services, no third-party trackers. The only thing the app keeps on disk is the name of Macs you have paired with (used by the iPhone companion to reconnect) and your local preferences. That information never leaves your device. The app runs in the Apple App Sandbox. PERMISSIONS • Accessibility — required so the app can read scroll events that happen over the menu bar and translate them into volume changes. You will be prompted on first launch, or you can grant it manually in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. • Local Network — required only if you use the iPhone companion, so the two devices can discover each other. Bug fixes and small improvements: • Fixed an issue where scrolling in an app and then moving the cursor to the menu bar could change the volume. • Fixed an issue where scrolling in windows right below the menu bar could change the volume. • The sensitivity slider now goes lower. • The Local Network permission is now requested only when you open the Remote tab in Settings.
