Mystery Chess changes that. Position your pieces anywhere within your four starting rows and create your own battle formation. Your opponent cannot see your formation until the match begins, making every game a new strategic mystery. Formations are the biggest difference between Mystery Chess and traditional chess. This variation was created as an alternative to memorizing established openings. After all, if one king were preparing for another battle, why would they always use the exact same formation? Our long-term vision is to build more than a temporary, casual chess variation. We want Mystery Chess to become a serious esports ecosystem where people can pursue professional careers as players, coaches, managers, sponsors, and more.
