About Hafez
Khwaja Shams-ud-Din Muhammad Hafez-e Shirazi (c. 1315–1390) is widely regarded as the master of Persian lyric poetry. His Divan has been a household book in Persian-speaking homes for centuries. The tradition of taking a fal from Hafez is part everyday divination, part cultural heirloom: open the book at random and let Hafez speak.
