What's new in this version:
• New player: lyrics and the queue open right inside the player, where the artwork is, each with its own button in the bottom bar. Lyrics, which used to show up in the title, now live here.
• Smart mix is now called AutoMix (Premium): it moves from one song to the next like a DJ. Turn it on in the new Shuffle · Repeat · AutoMix row at the top of the queue, or with the AutoMix switch in Settings → Playback, and it works for all your music. Lists now have just Play and Shuffle. If you were listening to a Smart mix when you updated, AutoMix stays on.
• A refreshed queue: at the top, the song that’s playing and the Shuffle · Repeat · AutoMix row; below, “Up next” and, if you swipe down, “History” with what has already played. Each one has “Clear”, and you can tap “Undo” for 5 seconds. Tap a song in the queue and it plays without closing the queue.
• The artwork grows while a song plays and shrinks when you pause, and the play/pause button changes with a new animation. To change songs, you can still just drag the artwork.
• Translate lyrics: on iOS 18 or later, a button above the progress bar shows the translation under each line. It’s free and happens on your device; the first time, it may need to download the language.
• Find lyrics: if a song has no lyrics, BlueMusic recognizes it by its sound or its title and finds the lyrics that match its duration. Without Premium, recognizing it by its sound counts as one of your 20 recognitions a month.
• Scroll down through the lyrics and the controls hide to give you more room; scroll back up and they reappear.
• “Add to Playlist” and the sleep timer open inside the player too. The timer shows the countdown and lets you add 5 minutes or pick any time you like.
• Open the player from the mini player and close it by swiping down or tapping the handle at the top. The ⋯ button is now at the bottom right.
• Songs, audiobooks, podcasts and stations without artwork show a simple gray drawing: a note, a book, a microphone or sound waves. Also on the Lock Screen, in CarPlay and in the widget.
• Audiobooks and podcasts: .m4b files and anything you keep in “Audiobooks” or “Podcasts” folders get their own place, with chapters, speed, bookmarks and the spot where you left off (with Premium, on all your devices).
• Statistics, in Settings: your minutes of music and what you play most over the last week, month or year, or of all time.
• Your year on BlueMusic: in December, a recap of what you played most this year, to look back on and share. It counts what you play from this version on.
• Add a folder: pick a folder in Files and BlueMusic plays it right where it is, without copying anything or taking up twice the space.
• New “Recently added” filter in Songs. Touch and hold a filter to put them in your own order; the app remembers the last one you used.
• On the Mac, a sidebar and a player that’s always at hand at the bottom.
• Your messages: if you write to us from Settings → Help, you’ll see our replies in Settings → Help → Your messages. A dot lets you know when a new one arrives.
• A crown marks what’s Premium. Without Premium you can recognize 20 songs and share music 5 times a month; with Premium, there’s no limit.
• In CarPlay, over AirPlay, with audiobooks and on an album played in order, AutoMix doesn’t blend songs: they play one after another, with nothing cut off.
• “Add metadata” and “Download tags”: if BlueMusic isn’t sure which song it is, it no longer fills in another song’s artist or artwork on its own.
