Spotter Tools Pro 1.0.57 This update covers everything since 1.0.54, so there is a lot here. THE FULL NWS FORECAST, ANYWHERE YOU TAP • Long-press the map, use the map menu, or search a city to pull the complete National Weather Service forecast for that exact spot. • Current conditions from the nearest airport station, an alert banner when something is active, and the day and night periods in the forecaster's own words. • A 48 hour trend chart over an hour-by-hour strip you can tap through. • The Area Forecast Discussion, so you can read the local office's reasoning without leaving the app. • Every grid layer that office publishes for your spot, including thunder probability, mixing height, transport wind, wet bulb globe temperature and the Haines index. Tap any value for a plain English explanation. • The last forecast stays readable when you lose signal. HOME SCREEN WIDGET • Put the forecast for any place on your home screen. Choose the location, show the next few hours or the next few days, and match it to the app's theme or pick your own. • An optional strip appears when a warning or watch covers that spot. • It refreshes on its own, and holds onto the last good reading if an update fails. • Requires iOS 17 or later. The app itself still runs on iOS 15. The widget offers My Location plus any place you have opened a forecast for, so pull up a forecast somewhere once to make it available. NEW FORECAST MODELS • AIFS 25km, the ECMWF AI Forecast System, 6 hourly out to 15 days. • GEFS Mean 50km, the ensemble average, 6 hourly out to 16 days. It is the mean of the whole ensemble rather than a single run, so read it as the middle of the road rather than a specific outcome. • Model products are now grouped into categories you can expand, instead of one long list. RADAR • Long loops load noticeably faster, and on newer phones frames decode in parallel. • Tapping a storm cell during playback now reads the frame you are looking at rather than the latest scan, and the readout moves above the crosshair when the loop bar is in the way. • Outlooks joined the quick layer switcher in the bottom corner. • Radar and model layers now paint on top of outlook shading instead of underneath, so your echoes stay visible when outlooks are on. • The two radars are now named for what they are, Single Site and National, rather than the feed behind them. • Panning during playback no longer stutters. FIXES • Model layers no longer show a stale run after the app sits in the background. • Warning notification map previews load faster and more reliably.

Spotter Tools Pro 1.0.54 Sign in with your Spotter Network account - Just use your Spotter Network username and password. No more digging your App ID out of the Spotter Network dashboard and pasting it in. The old App ID method is still there if you prefer it. - Your own dot on the map is now matched exactly, so you always know which spotter is you. A cleaner map - Every layer used to pin its own row of buttons under the app bar, and they stacked. Turn on a few layers and a quarter of your screen was controls. Spotter Tools Pro 1.0.53 Critical Alerts are here - Apple approved Critical Alerts for Spotter Tools Pro. Tornado Emergencies, Particularly Dangerous Situation warnings, and Flash Flood Emergencies can now break through Do Not Disturb and the silent switch. If you already have Bypass Do Not Disturb turned on, it starts working automatically once you update. Alerts while you are using the app - Warnings now reach you while the app is open. Before, an alert outside your current map view could go unnoticed, and everything from your session arrived as one burst of notifications when you closed the app. - Alert updates now download a fraction of the data they used to, so the app runs smoother and lighter on your data plan. Crash fix for background users - Fixed a crash that could close the app while the GPS beacon or alert notifications were running in the background. The details card now shows peak reflectivity and how long the cell has been tracking, its footprint, estimated mass and volume, and the peak low-level wind with a plain-language impact read — a complete picture of a storm's strength and where it's headed. Cell picker — more data, and fixed on iPhone/iPad The crosshair cell picker (tap the radar to read the exact values under the reticle) now gives a full readout of every radar product, including the new dual-polarization data. We also fixed a bug that kept it from loading on iPhone and iPad — it's reliable again. More radar products Two more dual-polarization products join single-site radar — Correlation Coefficient and KDP — to help you pick out debris, hail, and heavy rain. Faster Level 2 radar Level 2 radar now loads noticeably faster and fresher. Tap a site mid-scan and it paints the current sweep right much faster instead of catching up, so you're always looking at the latest data. A gorgeous animated wind layer streams live surface wind across the map as flowing, speed-colored particles (blue → green → orange → red) — see exactly where the wind is ripping at a glance. Better composite radar. Loop any composite product with up to 12 hours of history, sharper retina (2×) imagery, and a new quality-controlled Base Reflectivity mosaic that updates about every 2 minutes. Soundings layout fixes (no more scrunched view; clears the system nav bar), plus a cleaner in-app logo.

Bigger tropical toolkit. Named-storm forecasts now include model spaghetti tracks (the individual model paths behind the cone) and when tropical-storm-force winds are expected to arrive, plus a wind field, coastal watches & warnings, a storm list, and basin-correct labels. Read the models at a glance. Weather-model layers now show on-map value numbers that follow the animation, so you can read the actual forecast value at any point over time. Sharper soundings — an accuracy pass, a hazard summary board, and clearer data timing. Further memory fixes to reduce out-of-memory crashes.

Tap-anywhere soundings. Tap any point on the map to pull up a forecast sounding right there — skew-T, hodograph, and the full forecast scrubber to step through the hours. More stable & lighter on your Device. Fixed the top crashes reported this month and cut background work that could cause freezes (ANRs) or out-of-memory issues.

New: Presence (opt-in). Turn it on to see other Spotter Tools Pro users on the map — their avatars, usernames, and bios — and let them see you. It's off by default and completely optional; nothing is shared unless you switch it on. Smoother sign-in on iPhone: native Sign in with Apple, plus a cleaner Google sign-in flow. Fixes for map marker and avatar rendering (your custom/premium marker now shows reliably).

Soundings improvements: new forecast scrubber to step through the hours ahead, a corrected skew-T orientation, true local-time labels, and tidied forecast-site pins. New map styles: Nav Day and Nav Night base maps, easier storm-cell tapping, and storm tracks / lightning / Nav Night now on by default. Added Mexico live webcams (103 cameras).

New: on-device Soundings. Pull up full atmospheric profiles right in the app — skew-T diagrams, hodographs, and complete sounding analysis, from observed balloon data and HRRR forecast profiles. No desktop required. Dual-view radar: split the screen to compare two radar views side by side — reflectivity vs. velocity, two products, or two sites at once, each with its own controls. Smoother GPU radar rendering.

GPU-accelerated radar. Single-site radar now renders on the GPU (native OpenGL on Android, Metal on iOS) — crisp and smooth at any zoom level, no more blocky tiles. Storm cell cards: tap a storm cell for a curved nowcast track plus hail size and storm-structure details. Added West Virginia (WV511) live traffic cameras — ~127 feeds.

Smoother radar: single-site radar (Level III & TDWR) now auto-refreshes to the newest scan on its own, and we fixed a brief flash when the radar first loads.
