PathwayCLB
CLB & NCLC study pathways
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Turn your CLB/NCLC levels into a plan for college, university & the skilled trades. Real schools in every province.
PathwayCLB helps newcomers to Canada turn their language levels into a clear plan for college, university and the skilled trades. Now in English and French.
If you have taken LINC, CLIC or a PBLA assessment, your report shows a level for each skill: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Enter those four levels and PathwayCLB shows you, in plain language, what post-secondary options you currently meet the language requirements for — and exactly what to improve to reach the next step.
WHAT YOU GET
- Two languages: switch the whole app between English and French anytime.
- English (CLB) and French (NCLC): enter the scale that matches your report.
- Your best-match pathway, from continuing language study up to university degree and graduate-level programs.
- Skilled trades & technology: see apprenticeship, trades and technology programs as another route into a career. They often ask for less language than a university degree, and many use a skills or trade-entrance test instead of a language test.
- Your level converted to approximate IELTS and CELPIP scores (English), or CEFR with TEF/TCF (French), based on the Government of Canada equivalency chart (official source linked below).
- A clear view of your limiting skill — because schools check each skill, not the average — and how many levels you need for the next step.
- A directory of real Canadian institutions — colleges, universities, polytechnics and trade institutes — by province and territory, with links to official pages. English-language schools in CLB mode, French-language schools in NCLC mode.
- Money & funding: plain-language help on government and provincial student aid, scholarships and bursaries.
- Get your education recognized: how an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) works, with links to designated organizations.
- How to read your report: a simple guide to the four numbers.
- Save your favourite schools to compare later.
- Read-aloud: listen to any screen using your phone's voice.
- Larger text option for easier reading.
- Quick links to find free LINC / ESL / CLIC classes near you.

Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Version 2.0 adds:
- Skilled trades & technology pathways. See apprenticeship, trades, and technology options — often a faster route into a career, with lower language requirements than a university degree — plus real colleges, polytechnics, and trade institutes across every province, in English (CLB) and French (NCLC). Refinements and updated links.
- Links to school and government pages now open in your browser, with a clear back button to return to the app.
- Fixed a broken link for Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) programs.
- Fixed two broken directory links (Memorial University; Ontario French-language colleges & universities).
Thanks for the great feedback — keep it coming with the in-app button.
