Your family’s recipes, saved for good — imported from anywhere, cooked hands-free, and on the table together. Warm, simple, built for real kitchens.
Focara Kitchen is a warm, personal recipe box for the dishes your family actually cooks — the card from Grandma's tin, the screenshot you saved last week, the blog recipe buried under ads.
SAVE EVERY RECIPE, EVERY WAY
• Paste a link and import from almost any recipe website
• Paste recipe text from Notes, a message, or an email — it's sorted into ingredients and steps for you
• Snap photos of cookbooks, cards, and handwritten notes — smart scanning reads them into clean ingredients and steps, and strips the clutter
• Or just type it in with a fast, structured editor
COOK HANDS-FREE
• Cook Mode keeps the screen awake with big, readable steps
• Easy Read highlights the ingredients inside each step, so a glance is enough with your hands full
• Tap any step's timer to start it — timers keep running if you leave the recipe, and survive closing the app
• Run multiple recipes at once and switch between them without losing your place
MAKE EVERY RECIPE YOUR OWN
• Scale servings and watch the amounts adjust
• Save your changes as versions — keep the original, and the way YOU make it
• Jot notes after each cook: what worked, what to change, how it turned out
• Show amounts in US or metric, per recipe or app-wide
DINNER, READY TOGETHER
• Plan a meal and Focara builds the cooking timeline backwards from serve time
• Each dish gets its own start alarm, so everything lands hot at once
• Start cooking right from the timeline and move dish to dish
A SHOPPING LIST THAT SORTS ITSELF
• Add a recipe's ingredients in one tap — duplicates merge automatically
• The list organizes by store section: produce, dairy, meat, pantry
• Plain water never clutters your list (it's assumed on hand — tap to restore)
SHARE ANY RECIPE
• Send anyone a beautiful, ad-free web page of your recipe — no app required
• The link shows the photo, ingredients, and steps, ready to cook from
MADE FOR REAL KITCHENS
• Fully localized in 33 languages — and recipe scanning works in most of them too, every script your phone's text recognition can read
• Your recipe box lives on your device — export everything, anytime
• Free to use with ads; Focara Kitchen Pro removes all ads for less than a dollar a month
"Focara" comes from an old word for hearth — the warm center of the home where food and family meet. That's what this app wants to be for your recipes.

• Focara Kitchen Pro Monthly — $0.99 per month

Update: they updated the app and every single thing I mentioned was addressed- even the things they didn’t have to address, just the wish list things. Thank you so much!! Definitely cinched the deal for me, this app is awesome. Origional: I’m absolutely floored by how useful this app is. Focara is still very new, apparently only been released a few weeks- but the usability is off the charts. I say this as someone who has tried nearly every cooking or recipe app out there. I’ve spent a decade hopping from one system to another, including several years now with one of the more popular apps. I genuinely like Focara better.Strengths: recipe importing is fantastic. I can finally get recipes from my physical cookbooks to my phone, and importing from websites has been working beautifully too. Recipe organization is elegant. You get all the usual categories: breakfast, lunch, snacks… etc, plus 15 customizable categories. That’s more than enough for me. I also really like being able to filter by cuisine type, although I’d love to see those become customizable as well. I have plenty of Japanese, Thai, Hmong, and Vietnamese which I hesitate to lump together under “Asian”. And my mother in law will kill me if I put her traditional Colombian recipes under “Mexican”, so for now I’m hiding this app from her. Cooking view is useful, and the ability to save different “versions” of a recipe is one of my favorite features. I can never remember what I subbed last time so this is going to be handy for me. And having timers integrated within the app is a nice touch, as well as the ability to export your recipes to save a backup. I haven’t put the meal planning or shopping list through its paces, but guaranteed they’re going into my toolbox. Weaknesses: there’s still signs that this is a young app. I’d love to be able to reorder ingredients. And I really miss having nutrition facts attached to recipes. For now I’m putting the basics in manually in the notes section. But these are polish issues, not dealbreakers. The foundation of the app is unusually good. It already feels more useful to me than recipe apps that have been around for years, and I’m genuinely excited to see where the developers take it.
Developer Response
Thank you, this review made our day. We're delighted to say all three of the things you asked for are now here: customizable cuisine types, ingredient reordering, and nutrition facts all arrived in version 1.4.0. Thank you for cooking with Focara Kitchen, and for telling us what would make your recipe box feel more like yours.
New: Imports that look off now say so. If a scan or a pasted recipe leaves a few lines in doubt — an amount with no ingredient, a step that landed among the ingredients, a recipe with no steps — those rows get the orange dot and a gentle note asks you to check the ingredients and steps before you save.
Improved: Recipes you import keep the units they were written in — a recipe in grams stays in grams, and its oven temperatures stay as written. When a recipe's units differ from yours, tap the link under Servings to see it in your own units — and tap again to switch back. A step that already gives both temperatures, like 400°F (205°C), is left exactly as written.
Improved: Scanning printed recipe cards. The recipe's real name is chosen even when a word like "Dessert" is printed above it, headings such as SALAD and DRESSING arrive as section labels, and numbered directions stay whole instead of breaking mid-sentence. Bulleted lists no longer confuse the reader, and a misread like "tosp" or "11/2 cups" is corrected to "tbsp" or "1 1/2 cups" and marked so you can confirm it.
New: Fractions you type settle into place — 1/2 becomes ½ when you leave the row, so every line in the list reads the same way. The recipe name now wraps onto a second line instead of being cut off, up to 60 characters.
New: Type an exact prep or cook time — 12 minutes is now just 12 minutes. The − and + buttons are still there for quick changes, and move in fives.
Improved: New Meal is easier to read. The meal's details and its shopping reminder sit on their own cards, each letter's recipes sit together on a card, and a long recipe name is shortened to two lines, always at a whole word. Extra time can now be 45 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours.
Improved: The reminder after you cook now names what you made — "How did Lasagna turn out?" — instead of always asking about dinner. Reminders and timer alerts now also appear in your language.
Improved: Recipes in every language. Easy Read now highlights the ingredients in recipes written in any of the app's languages, Cook Mode finds their cooking times, and the shopping list sorts them into store sections. Timer buttons and the recipe page's Share, Edit and Plan buttons now appear in your language.
Fixed: The Done button above the keyboard is back on iOS 26, and in the recipe editor you can now drag the list down to put the keyboard away.
Improved: The recipe page's cuisine chip now carries its own icon, so it sits level with the dietary chips beside it. Cuisine and meal type names keep to 20 characters so they always fit their chips and shelves.
Improved: Photos in your recipe lists load lighter and faster — the recipe page's photo is untouched, at full quality.
Improved: When the Pro plans can't load because you're offline, the screen now says so — and reminds you that your recipe box keeps working offline.
Fixed: The in-app timer chime now fades out gently instead of stopping short. Pulling down on Home or Discover no longer reveals a band of a different color above the header.
