Developed and supervised by a licensed architecture professional. Clouds, measure, stamps, OCR search, Excel and Word export — one PDF workspace.
Spread your PDFs out on a desk and clear them — a workspace built for reviewing drawings.
Sumipa is developed and supervised by a licensed architecture professional, and grew out of real-world drawing review work.
Sumipa is a Mac-only PDF workspace. Spread multiple PDFs on a virtual "desk", mark them up like paper, stamp them, and search across them — without sending anything to the cloud. Built for reviewing architectural drawings, checking contracts, confirming estimates, and proofing reports: work where you flip between many PDFs and need to comment fast.
■ What you can do
◎ Open many PDFs side by side
PDFs appear as cards on a desk. Group them into folders, bundle several into one, or split a long PDF apart. Folders carry a status (not started / has material / insufficient / confirmed) and a free note — handy for catching gaps before submission. Bundle, split and merge can be undone with ⌘Z. Your layout auto-saves.
◎ Compare old & new PDFs (red revision clouds)
View two PDFs side-by-side, overlay them (old = red, new = blue), or let Sumipa automatically detect changes and add red revision clouds to the new PDF. If the drawings are slightly offset, Sumipa auto-aligns them before diffing, so a simple shift won't trigger dozens of false clouds. Save the marked result back to your workspace.
◎ Scan straight from your scanner
Drive a Brother (or other) scanner directly over your network or USB. Scanned pages become a PDF in your workspace; ADF multi-page scans combine into one. Communication stays on your local network — nothing is sent to the internet.
◎ A full set of annotation tools
Rectangles, ellipses, lines, arrows, freehand, polygons — plus revision clouds, callouts with leader lines, hatched fills (diagonal, cross, dotted), and a measuring tool. Set a drawing scale such as 1:100 or 1:50 and it reports distance, area and perimeter at real-world size.
◎ Stamps and seals
Built-in stamps for "Checked", "Approved", "Confirmed" and more — plus a Stamp Editor to design your own seal.
◎ Text & markup
Bordered text boxes, callout balloons, highlight, underline, strikethrough, and text rotation.
◎ OCR + full-text search
Scanned PDFs become searchable. Hits show in a sidebar; click to jump to the page.
◎ Style presets & tool sharing
Save the red line you use for review comments and apply it with one click. Export your presets and custom stamps to a single file (.sumipatools) to share with another Mac or a teammate.
◎ Page operations
Add, delete, rotate, extract, duplicate and reorder pages by dragging thumbnails.
◎ Rich-text memos
Drop memos onto your desk with per-character typeface, size and color. Each memo saves as a PDF.
◎ To-Do list
A sidebar checklist with due dates that syncs two-way with Apple Reminders (as a "Sumipa" list) — so the same list shows up on your iPhone.

Ratings & Reviews
This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
• Fixed an issue where opening PDFs directly from the Finder or the desktop could stop working after the first few files, with nothing happening on further attempts. Documents inside synced (cloud) folders now keep opening in new tabs, however many you open.
• Minor stability improvements.
Thank you for using Sumipa. We'd love to hear your feedback and requests.
