solstone mobile
personal memory platform
Free
solstone is a personal memory platform. the solstone app takes in what you share with it, and all of it goes into your journal. your journal is always private, only yours.
what this app needs
the solstone app on iphone and ipad pairs with your journal, on a computer you own and run solstone on. set up your journal on your computer if you haven't already; that's where your memories live.
what it takes in
bring in the photos and screens that matter to you, and, with your permission, the audio from your day and where you were. everything you share goes into your journal, no cloud required.
what your journal makes possible
your journal keeps a knowledge graph of the people and projects in your life, and makes all of your memories accessible. everything you've brought in is searchable. a memory your agents can work from.
optional services, never required
private network: reach your journal from your phone, from anywhere. use your own VPN, or our relay. we provide a private network that only your devices can enter.
encrypted backup: keep an encrypted copy of your journal somewhere safe. you can bring your own storage, or we can provide that service. only you can read it.
solstone works fully without any of them.
you don't have to take our word for it
solstone is open source. read the code, run it yourself, verify every claim. there's no telemetry and no analytics in this app, and nothing in it reports usage back to us. we can't tell you how many people run solstone. we built it so we can't know, and we never will.
sol pbc is a public benefit corporation. the promises about your data live in article 8 of our filed articles of incorporation, not in a policy we could quietly change. article 8 can't be amended without the founder's personal signature, and after him the language can only get stronger, never weaker.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
- import can now bring in photos from your library: choose an album and a range of dates, see how many photos that is, then import them. you can pause or stop partway, and the photo library screen shows whether your journal has described the newest ones yet.
- you can now bring your calendar into your journal. you choose how far back to start.
- photos you pick from the photo picker now show "from Photos" too when you open one from "on this device".
- when your journal says your iphone or ipad is no longer paired with it, the app now asks you to pair again right away, instead of saying it can't reach your journal.
- if your journal keeps refusing your iphone or ipad, the app now stops trying to reach it until you pair again.
- the night background now has gold stars and, around the middle of the night, a brief meteor shower and an aurora on iphone and ipad, with stars and still meteor trails on apple watch.
- when you set up calendar, every calendar starts off, and so does one that shows up on your phone later. you switch on the ones you want before anything comes in. the calendar page now says that what's already in your journal stays when you pause or switch a calendar off.
- the audio page no longer asks you to pick meeting or voice memo. audio no longer stops on its own when it gets quiet.
- the watch tile, the watch page and the solstone app on your watch no longer count what is "confirming with your iphone": it was already on your iphone.
- when the solstone app on your watch has an update waiting, the watch tile now asks you to update it and the watch page shows how. before, it could look fine while your watch waited.
- after a problem with audio, the status said "audio was interrupted" and kept saying it. now, when something you shared doesn't reach your journal, the status says there's a gap and which day, and it clears once you've opened it. something you remove from your iphone or ipad yourself never shows as a gap.
- when audio on your watch stops itself, the watch tile on your iphone now says so for a day, instead of until you start again.
- when you share your screen while audio is on, and audio on your iphone or ipad ends up with nothing for that stretch, the sound from your screen video now reaches your journal instead.
- when a call or another app takes the microphone while audio is on, audio now shows paused and says "another app took the microphone." instead of staying on and then showing a problem. if audio hasn't come back on its own once the call is over, tap resume.
- when audio, location or screen needs attention, its tile now says what's wrong, like "location access is off." instead of "something's not getting through." with VoiceOver, the tile reads that line too.
- when storage is full or microphone access is off, the button on the audio page now says start instead of retry.
- when location needed attention because its detail level asked for more than ios allows, picking a detail level ios allows on the location page now starts location again. before, it stayed stopped.
- on apple watch, the sun is now always the background, not only with your wrist down. the first screen shows just the sun, the start or stop button, and a short note when something needs attention. turn the Digital Crown to see how long audio has been running, and the rest of the details. when a note shows, you can also tap it to go straight to the details.
- on apple watch, the night sky now shows with your wrist up too: stars, the aurora and the meteor shower. the aurora now also shows with your wrist down.
