Gecko Guide is a local-first reference app for gecko keepers, breeding enthusiasts, and anyone who needs to review species, care, morph, source, and risk information. V2.0.0 turns the library into a deeper search and comparison tool.
UNIFIED SEARCH
Search species names, aliases, scientific names, genes, trait groups, source titles, publishers, access status, health flags, CITES notes, and calculator limitations. Every result explains the field that matched.
ADVANCED FILTERS AND TEMPLATES
Filter species by care level, size, temperature, humidity, habitat, climate, legal-reference status, gene coverage, and beginner suitability. Filter genes by inheritance, species, group, health risk, breeding recommendation, precise-calculation support, images, and sources. Nine local templates provide useful starting points that remain editable and resettable.
SPECIES AND GENE COMPARISON
Compare two to four species across care parameters, size, lifespan, habitat, diet, legal notes, gene coverage, and review status. Compare genes across inheritance, groups, visual markers, conflicts, stackability, health flags, breeding notes, calculator support, and source status. Missing values stay visibly unknown.
DEEPER, CONNECTED DETAILS
Species pages include beginner suitability, common misconceptions, similar species, and related genes. Gene pages include trait groups, similar genes, life-stage appearance, relationships, risks, and related species. Search, detail, comparison, and calculator results link back into the same local content graph.
SOURCE TRANSPARENCY
Key screens show source level, access date, review date, access status, content confidence, and reference-only or disputed labels. These labels support review and do not guarantee medical, legal, or breeding outcomes.
GENETICS CALCULATOR
Estimate simplified outcomes for supported dominant, recessive, co-dominant, and incomplete-dominant single-locus traits. Results link to the genes used and can add them to comparison. Approximate, disputed, line-bred, polygenic, and health-risk cases remain conservatively bounded.
PRIVACY
The current version has no sign-in, ads, advertising identifiers, third-party analytics SDKs, cloud backup, or cloud sync. Built-in content, favorites, reading history, and preferences remain on the device.
