If you build documentaries, features, or journalism from hours of interview and field tape, Studio lets you work the way you already think — in words and story, not tracks and timelines. WORK FROM THE TRANSCRIPT Bring in your tape and Studio transcribes it and separates the speakers automatically — all on your Mac, so your transcript is readable from the start. Add the optional AI reads and Studio will even propose who each speaker is. You simply select the words that matter, and your selection becomes a clip. No more scrubbing a waveform hunting for the line you remember, or video thumbnails that all look the same. A NEW WAY TO PRODUCE PODCASTS Studio makes the annoying part of podcasting easy. Simply strike the words that don’t belong, like outtakes or backstage chat. Add chapter marks (with names if you want). That’s it. Your session is a show. It’s easy to add additional script or beds, too, because now you can see your podcast’s structure at a glance . You can still open any clip and work it like tape — scrub under the loupe, trim to the word, snap your cuts to the natural silences. Give a seam a breath of authored air when the story needs one. And when the piece needs your voice, write the narration where it belongs and record takes right there — every take becomes tape, transcribed like the rest. AN HONEST COLLABORATOR Meet the Thread — a grounded AI assistant that helps you find moments, propose cuts, and answer "what is this section really about?" It works only from what's actually in your tape: it quotes verbatim or it refuses. It never invents a line, never misattributes a speaker, and never changes your story without your say-so. You stay the storyteller. It’s how AI should be. YOUR SOURCES STAY YOURS Importing, transcribing, separating speakers, searching, editing, assembling and finishing all run on your Mac. No account required. macOS downloads Apple's speech model once; after that, none of that work needs the network. The AI features are opt-in: they run through your own Anthropic API key, on your own account, and only ever send text derived from your tape, never your raw audio. And the first time a tape you haven't read would have its words leave your Mac, Studio asks first — so nothing you meant to keep on your machine slips out. You decide what's shared. As well as support for macOS 27, the new version has fixes and enhancements including semantic search that works in milliseconds, so you can find moments in your tape without using keywords, all on your Mac. We also improved the privacy features of Studio, making it even easier to opt in or out of allowing transcript off your device for the first time.
