Match Volume

Level your library's volume

Only for Mac

Mac

MatchVolume levels the volume differences between the tracks in your library to the same reference as Apple Music (about -15.83 LUFS). It analyzes each track's loudness using EBU R128 (LUFS) and writes a Sound Check tag (iTunNORM) to the file — so the audio itself is never altered (non-destructive), and you can revert at any time. What it does • Analyze the loudness of every track (free) • Preview the recommended gain and listen before you commit (free) • Level playback volume by writing Sound Check tags • Per track, or per album (preserving the relative differences between tracks) • Carries over to iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV via your iCloud Music Library • Automatically skips cloud-only, DRM, Apple Music, and purchased tracks, as well as effectively silent ones • Overrides existing Sound Check values with high-accuracy ones, and reverts in one click Trial and purchase Analysis, prediction, and preview are free for your entire library. In the trial you can apply gains to any 10 tracks; the full version (a one-time purchase) unlocks applying to your whole library. Turn on Sound Check in the Music app to hear the leveled playback.

  • This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.

• Analysis is now about 3.6 times faster. • The track list is faster: scrolling, sorting and switching to Per Album are much more responsive. • In a narrow window the toolbar now uses smaller buttons, or icons only, so it no longer runs off the edge. • You can now stop an analysis with Stop (⌘.) in the status bar. Tracks being analyzed are finished; tracks not yet started are left as they were. • Analyze Selected now shows its progress and no longer overloads your Mac when many tracks are selected. • Applying and reverting gains now show their progress and can be stopped with Stop (⌘.). The track being written is finished; tracks not yet written are left as they were. • Tracks that can't be analyzed now show "Can't analyze", with the reason in the details. • Tracks MatchVolume isn't allowed to read (outside the folders you granted) now show "No access" and which folder to grant, instead of failing as if damaged. • Tracks whose files can't be found (moved, deleted, or on an external disk that isn't connected) now show "File missing". • MatchVolume no longer writes to a file whose existing tags or Sound Check value it can't read correctly, so they aren't lost; such files are reported as failed. • Fixed an issue where applying gains to MP3 files with older (ID3v2.2) tags, and to some AIFF files, removed other tags stored in the file, such as the title and artwork. • Fixed an issue where applying gains failed for some MP3 files (files whose tag is followed by RIFF-wrapped audio) and nothing was written. • Fixed an issue where Sound Check values written by other apps could not be read, so "Existing Gain" showed "None". • Fixed an issue where some MP3 files could not be analyzed, so no gain was applied to them. • Fixed an issue where MatchVolume could quit when reading some M4A files, including damaged ones. • Fixed an issue where the loudness of surround tracks (such as 5.1 and 7.1) was measured without the correct channel layout. Surround tracks analyzed with an earlier version show as not analyzed until you analyze them again; then apply gains again to correct them. • Fixed an issue where Sound Check values that other apps (such as Mp3tag) wrote in UTF-16 could not be read, so applying gains could add a second value instead of replacing the existing one. • If you quit while gains are being applied, MatchVolume now finishes the file it is writing and then quits. Previously a hidden temporary file could be left beside that file. • Fixed an issue where a hidden temporary file was left behind when applying gains to a file that can't be changed, such as a locked file. • Fixed an issue where a library with missing files asked for folder access every time MatchVolume opened. • Fixed an issue where you could not get back to the track list window when only the Help window was open (it is now in the Window menu). • Fixed an issue where ⌘A (Select All) and the arrow keys sometimes did nothing after you clicked in the track list.
