AJDE: Learn Serbian Language
Phrases for beginners & slang
Only for iPhone

Serbian feels almost familiar — and that's the trap. AJDE teaches everyday Serbian for life in Serbia: short lessons, real dialogues, and the slang locals actually use.
From your first "zdravo" to your own table at the kafana. This isn't another "repeat after the speaker" course — it's a trainer for real life in Serbia.
WHAT'S INSIDE
• Boss dialogues — your landlord texts about the boiler, the waiter takes your order, the taxi driver chats on the way.
• A path from zero — daily units for the market, the kafana, paperwork, the doctor, renting a flat.
• Real audio — honest ekavian and everyday Belgrade speech, not a 1980s textbook.
• Cyrillic and Latin — both alphabets at once, switch with one tap. A starter unit teaches Cyrillic from scratch.
• Daily games — Serbian Wordle, speed words, tricky pairs.
WHO IT'S FOR
• You moved to Serbia or you're about to.
• You want to understand neighbours, shops and documents.
• You've tried textbooks and quit — this is 5 minutes a day and actually fun.
FREE TO START

more Two new units: getting around and staying healthy. Your path is now 12 days longer.
• On wheels. Intercity bus tickets and platform tickets, the train to Novi Sad, renting a car, paid parking zones and Belgrade's pauk — the tow truck. Traffic cops, the tyre shop, winter tyres and a fender bender with an accident report form. The finale: your car at the pound.
• The clinic. Toothache, fillings and Otvorite usta, your GP and a referral to a specialist, fasting blood tests, the eye doctor, glasses and lenses, and a gym injury. The finale: calling your boss — you're on sick leave, and there's a meeting at ten.
• 84 new words with audio and 220 exercises.
• Four new situations with passport stamps: the bus station, the tow truck, the dentist and sick leave.
• New tricky words: pauk is a spider and a tow truck, sočiva are both contact lenses and lentils, desni means gums but also right-hand, and karton is your medical record.
• New words go straight into your reviews and games. Everything comes with explanations in Russian and English.
• Share your progress. The new Share button in your profile makes a card with your streak, words learned and today's lessons. A friend who joins with the code on the card gets 3 days of AJDE+ free.

Three new units: love, Serbia online and life at home. Your path is now 18 days longer.
• Love and relationships. Tell someone you like them, ask them out and pay in style: Ja častim! Date, make up after a row, and see why “he marries” and “she marries” are different verbs in Serbian. The finale: lunch with her parents, with sarma, compliments and the eternal “so when’s the wedding?”
• Serbia online. Chargers, video calls with a dropping connection, social media, eUprava and e-prescriptions, and paying a bill by scanning its QR code in mobile banking. Learn to spot scams — the finale is a “hi, it’s my new number, send money” message.
• At home. Turkish coffee in a džezva and reading the grounds, Grandma’s gibanica, chores, slippers for guests and the slatko-and-water welcome, adopting a cat and the building’s house rules. The finale: the upstairs neighbour drilling at 11 pm.
• 126 new words with audio and 330 exercises.
• Six new situations with passport stamps: a first date, lunch with her parents, Grandma and her phone, a suspicious message, baking with Grandma and the neighbour upstairs.
• New tricky words: častiti means to treat someone, sudovi are the dishes, šerpa is a saucepan, and brašno is flour, while Serbian muka means nausea.
• New words go straight into your reviews and games. Everything comes with explanations in Russian and English.
1.11.0 Oct 15
• A new design for lessons and exercises: bigger, clearer and easier to use, even on smaller screens.
• More accurate reviews: a word only goes away for long once you really know it.
• Reminders show how many words are waiting for review.
• Listening exercises can play phrases slower.
• The dictionary and home screen are faster, plus small fixes.

The Zimnica season and a new look for AJDE.
Zimnica is an autumn season running until 30 November. The first jar is already on your shelf, and every Monday a new one opens: a chapter about what Serbia is up to that week. Ajvar in the yards, pickles and the heating season, slava, the book fair and the clock change, Mitrovdan, a wedding, a night at the kafana. Each chapter has voiced phrases, practice, a chat and a live scene without translation. Collect every weekly jar to earn the Puna ostava stamp in your passport. Four golden jars come with Ajde+.
Also in this version:
• A new start: your first conversation with your neighbour Jelena right away, pace and reminders on one screen, and a plan that opens your first lesson in one tap.
• Full-screen dialogues that feel like a real chat or a live conversation, with feedback on every answer.
• Exercises with Serbian apps sit in a phone frame, and after a mistake you see what you should have tapped.
• Play all of a situation's phrases in a row; the words a hint explains are highlighted in the phrase.
• A new design for home, the dictionary, games, apps, the passport and the profile — and a new typeface.
• The lesson summary shows your daily goal and streak, and sign-in shows the progress you're about to save.
144 new voiced phrases and 24 dialogues, in Russian and English.
City quests have moved from home to Apps.
Fixes: the app goes straight to your path after onboarding instead of pausing on the sign-in screen; you can invite a friend and enter their code without an account; the week strip and two passport stamps are now in English.

• Two new units: Shopping Made Easy and Digital Life. Shop for clothes, arrange deliveries and returns, recover account access, and manage subscriptions.
• 84 new words with audio, 220 exercises, and four new situations. Everything comes with explanations in Russian and English.
• Smarter practice: familiar words appear in different exercise formats, and new words are tested after other activities when there is enough material. When reviews pile up, smart lessons introduce fewer new words.
• Fixed cases where correct answers were rejected and removed unnecessary repeated questions. Refined translations and exercise wording.
1.8.0 Sep 15
Two new units, three situations and two games.
Јединица 17 · Одмор — the sea, the mountains and the road home: finding a place to stay, the beach, the barbecue. Inside you get the dative, the one case still missing, and the verbs of motion: doći, otići, stići, krenuti, vratiti se.
Јединица 18 · Људи и прилике — weddings, babies, congratulations and the words for hard days. Here it's the vocative (Mico, druže, gospođo!) and Serbian plurals, which follow a logic of their own: deca su došla, pet gostiju, braća su otvorila radnju.
New situations:
• A job interview — from the recruiter's call to the question about salary.
• Mobile and internet — picking a plan, signing a contract, getting an engineer out.
• A celebration — arriving with a present, proposing a toast, and leaving the way people do here.
New games:
• Rečenica — build the phrase from scattered words. The first game that drills word order and where the little se and mi belong.
• Azbuka — a word in one alphabet, find it in the other, against the clock.
94 new words voiced, 204 exercises and three dialogues
1.7.0 Sep 2
This one is about honest testing. We went looking for places where the app credited a lucky guess, and fixed them.
• Dialogue replies are shuffled: the right answer is no longer always the top button.
• Skipping a speaking prompt in review no longer marks the word as learned.
• Games stop serving words you haven't studied yet, and no longer log them as learned.
• "One more time" after a mistake now reshuffles the options — and won't loop forever.
Also in this version:
• A Practise button for weak words and false friends in the dictionary.
• Starred words come back for review sooner.
• The smart lesson no longer hands you two cards instead of the promised five minutes.
• Fixed a freeze on matching and app tasks, and added a step-by-step breakdown of what went wrong.
1.6.1 Aug 26
AJDE now speaks English. The whole course — lessons, words, dialogues, quests and games — is available with English as your starting language, and there's a new alphabet unit that teaches Cyrillic from scratch before day one.
Pick your language on the welcome screen or in settings; everything switches on the spot.
1.6.0 Aug 22
School Serbian, and a closer look at your own mistakes.
• New unit "Deca i škola" — 43 words and 7 lessons covering daycare, the first grade, marks and the parent meeting. Voiced by a native speaker, with the usual false friends called out: "vredan" means hardworking, not harmful, and "klupa" is a school desk, not a flowerbed.
• New "Razbor" screen — shows where you actually slip up: cases, listening, a specific lesson or topic. Plus a day-by-day map of your practice, so you can see your own rhythm.
• More city quests: ask for directions, book a haircut, drink a turska kafa slowly like a local, catch a sign written in both alphabets at once.
• Sentence building no longer solves itself by tapping left to right — the tiles are properly shuffled now.
• Fixed the Latin script: Љубав now becomes Ljubav, not LJubav.
• Fixed a crash that could hit right after finishing a lesson.
Polako — we'll get to the kafana.
1.5.0 Aug 18
Big update — B1 level is here!
• 5 new units: work, bureaucracy & residence permits, opinions & debates, formal emails and calls, slava & local customs — 230+ new voiced words, real-life dialogues and quizzes
• Placement test right on the home screen: start at your level, not at "zdravo"
• Smart lesson: 5 minutes of practice tailored to you — reviews, weak spots and new words
• Lessons now adapt to your pace: less easy filler, more of what you need
1.4.0 Jul 23

• Mini-apps hub. Short practices in one place — fewer taps, clearer flow.
• Faster and steadier. Snappier response, more reliable everyday polish.
Hvala što ste s nama. Polako!
1.3 Jul 12
Slowly, but steadier — here’s what’s new:
• Calmer look. Softer screens, less noise, nicer to hang out in.
• Shorter onboarding. Easier to see where to start and why you’re here.
• Passport stamps. Achievements feel like travel stamps, not just badges.

Hvala što ste s nama. Polako!
1.2 Jul 10
Polako — easy does it. Here's what's new:
• Streak freezes. Miss a day and your streak survives — we've got your back.
• Chapter rewards. Finish a unit and grab bonus XP plus a streak freeze.
• Share your word of the day. Cracked today's Rečka? Send the emoji grid to friends in one tap.
• False-friend cards. Share Serbian's trickiest "false friends" — always good for a laugh.
• Small improvements and stability.
Hvala što ste s nama — thanks for learning with us!
