A royal child has been taken through the Hollow Gate — a stone arch that breathes, leading to a dark older than night. Their sibling rode after them and never came back. The Keeper of the Gate, the ancient thing on the other side, is preparing them for something worse than death.
You are one of four people who answer the King's call.
THE HOLLOW GATE is a dark-fantasy interactive story — a text adventure with the depth of a novel and the bite of a real role-playing game. Walk a 2- to 3-hour road from the King's courtyard to the Gate at the world's edge. Make choices that cost you blood, gold, friends, and memory. Bring someone home, or don't.
— FOUR PLAYABLE CHARACTERS —
Choose your gender first. Then your character — Lyra Cassine and Aldric Sterling were castle-born; Wren Hollowfield and Kael Briarpath come from the marsh. Each opens different choices and changes how the kingdom sees you.
— THE STORY MIRRORS BACK —
Play as a woman, you ride out to rescue Prince Cassian, the King's son. Play as a man, you ride out for Princess Elara, the King's daughter. The whole story rewrites itself around your gender — pronouns, names, the deer you find with the iron crown in the witch's wood, every line.
— A REAL CAST —
Travel with Ash, who knows every rock and raven in the wastes. Ser Vale, a knight who prayed for a woman in a wizard's cage. Moth, who talks to crows and is half crow herself. Rook, the queen's man with the gray eyes. The Hedge Witch, who is younger than the stories. Build relationships with any of them. Romance one of them. Or fall for the royal you're rescuing — they speak to you in dreams.

A retired captain wants to give you his dead son's sword. A boy in a cage offers you his eyes back. A bookseller will sell you the Keeper's true name for a memory you'd rather keep. A widow has held a forty-year-old letter from her husband and asks you to read it. None of these are free.

Win with steel, words, trickery, or sacrifice. Each has a long "one year later" payoff scene — a market with paper crowns, a kitchen with a kettle, a cliff above where the Gate used to be, a dream where you wait. The romance arc carries through.
