Drove off with a bike, kayak, or cargo box on the roof? RackMinder pairs with a RackMinder beacon and alerts you before you pull into your garage. Beacon sold separately.
RackMinder requires a separately-purchased RackMinder beacon to work. The beacon is a small bluetooth tag you attach to your roof load (bike rack, kayak carrier, cargo box, ski rack). Without a RackMinder beacon, the app cannot detect a load and will not alert you. The beacon is sold separately and is not included with this free app.
WHAT RACKMINDER DOES
A roof load is easy to forget — until you pull into a garage or parking deck and it hits the overhead. RackMinder helps you avoid that. When you drive away from one of your saved garages with a beacon-tagged load on the roof, RackMinder starts watching for your return and alerts you before you reach the garage, so you have a chance to stop and remove the load first.
HOW IT ALERTS YOU
As you approach a saved garage with a load on the roof, RackMinder escalates:
• A spoken voice warning (text-to-speech) so you hear it while driving.
• An in-app alarm sound when you arrive.
• A time-sensitive notification on your lock screen.
These are time-sensitive alerts. RackMinder does not override your phone's mute switch or system focus modes, and it may not reach you in every situation — keep your own attention on the road.
WHY RACKMINDER NEEDS "ALWAYS" LOCATION
RackMinder uses your location in the background to detect when you're driving home with a load on your roof and warn you before you reach your garage. This requires Always location access. Background location can reduce battery life. RackMinder also uses Bluetooth to detect the iBeacon tag on your roof load.
SETUP IS SIMPLE
• Save your garages (home, work, anywhere you park under cover).
• Register your RackMinder beacon by scanning it once.
• Drive. RackMinder watches for the combination of "you left with a load" and "you're heading back."
There is no account to create and no password to remember — RackMinder uses your iCloud account, and your garages and beacons stay in your own private iCloud.
A SAFETY AID, NOT A GUARANTEE
RackMinder is a driver-assistance aid that helps remind you about a roof load. It is not a substitute for your own attention, and it cannot prevent every collision. Always confirm your vehicle's clearance before entering a garage or structure.
