Native MySQL, MariaDB and Aurora client for Mac and iPad. SQL editor, ER diagrams, SSH tunneling, scheduled backups and a built-in SQLite editor. Free 7-day trial. Calíope — MySQL, MariaDB & Aurora Client Calíope is a powerful, native MySQL, MariaDB, and Amazon Aurora client built for Mac and iPad. Whether you're a developer, DBA, or data analyst, Calíope gives you everything you need to connect, query, explore, and manage your databases — all in a clean, native interface designed for Apple platforms. Calíope is a subscription-based app. A Calíope Pro subscription is required to use all features. New users get a 7-day free trial. WHAT'S INCLUDED WITH CALÍOPE PRO SQL Editor — Write and execute queries with syntax highlighting and an integrated execution history. Run multiple queries side by side across independent tabs, each with its own live session. Database Explorer — Browse your full database schema — tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, events, and more — from an intuitive tree navigator. Inspect columns, indexes, and foreign keys at a glance. ER Diagrams — Visualize your database structure with interactive entity-relationship diagrams. Understand table relationships and schema design without writing a single query. Secure Connections — Connect to remote servers safely with native SSH tunneling (ed25519 and ECDSA keys), SSL/TLS encryption, and per-profile credential storage in your system Keychain. Scheduled Backups — Automate database backups with flexible scheduling and configurable retention policies. Select exactly which databases and tables to include in each backup job. Multiple Sessions — Open and switch between multiple database sessions simultaneously, each isolated, each independent. Query Log — Every query you run is automatically logged locally, so you can always trace back what was executed, when, and on which connection. Works without a server — A built-in SQLite editor for local .sqlite files: structure, data, SQL, pragmas, Save/Revert, and CSV/JSON/SQL import and export. Plus a read-only previewer for .md, .sql, .json, .csv, .rtf and .log files that refreshes when they change on disk. Both work with no connection. Widgets — Server metrics without opening the app: on the Mac desktop, and on the iPad Home and Lock Screen. One server per widget; tap it to open that server's dashboard. AI SQL Assistant (Bring Your Own Key) — Calíope Pro includes an optional AI-powered assistant that can help you write queries, explain results, and suggest optimizations. To use it, you must provide your own API key from a supported provider. Any usage costs are billed directly to your account with that provider — Calíope does not charge for or resell AI services. API keys are stored locally in your Keychain. All other Calíope Pro features work without an API key. SUBSCRIPTION DETAILS • Calíope Pro — Annual auto-renewing subscription. Calíope 1.2 — Redesigned and more accessible Version 1.2 rethinks how you move around Calíope and takes a big step forward in accessibility, on both Mac and iPad. What's new: • New navigation — The left sidebar is now a launcher for all 23 tools, always at hand, and the database/table tree lives right inside the SQL editor, where you actually use it. You can collapse it, and long names now wrap so you can read them in full. • Accessibility — A step toward better accessibility compliance: a native dark interface that follows your system appearance, support for Reduce Motion and Reduce Transparency, improved contrast in the common views, status shown with icons and text (not color alone), and more keyboard shortcuts on Mac. We're still refining VoiceOver and larger text (Dynamic Type) and will expand them in upcoming updates. • A more native interface — Many views were rewritten with native components for a cleaner look and full parity between Mac and iPad. • Amazon Aurora — Amazon Aurora is now an explicit server type. Aurora speaks the MySQL protocol, so you connect with the MySQL-compatible features. • SQLite Editor — A self-contained tool for local SQLite files (.sqlite, .db): structure, data, Execute SQL and pragmas, with Save/Revert changes and CSV, JSON and SQL import and export. No server needed. • File Previewer — Read .md, .sql, .json, .csv, .rtf and .log files in read-only mode: Markdown renders as a document, SQL gets syntax highlighting and line numbers, JSON is re-indented, CSV is shown as a table, RTF keeps its structure and emphasis, and the view refreshes on its own when the file changes on disk. It works with no connection, and nothing is ever executed. • Keep Awake — A toggle in the toolbar that stops your Mac from going to sleep while a long backup, import or query is running. Turn it on and off yourself; it never expires on its own, and the status stays visible so you don't leave it on by mistake. Optionally it can also keep the display on. On iPad it keeps the screen awake while Calíope is in the foreground. • MongoDB — A new tool for document databases: browse collections and documents, edit them as JSON, write filters and aggregation pipelines, manage indexes, and check the server, its running operations and its users. Every value shows its type (ObjectId, decimal128, dates, binaries), because a collection has no schema. • Global search and replace — Search one text across every table in a database and replace it, with a preview of each change and a warning when search and replace do not count the same (case sensitivity). • Spatial data — GEOMETRY columns are drawn on a map inside the SQL editor: drag a point or a vertex and Calíope proposes the statement, which never runs until you accept it. • Settings backup — Export and import your connections and preferences, with a restore point taken before every risky operation. Secrets are encrypted and only included if you ask. • Error log — App failures are recorded with an explanation and a link to the help, and can be read with no connection. • Large backups — Backing up and restoring multi-gigabyte databases no longer depends on available memory. • Alternate host — Every connection can now have a second address. If the main one doesn't answer, Calíope tries the alternate with the same port and credentials — useful when the same server is reached one way from your Mac and another from your iPad. Plus the usual translation updates, security hardening, help improvements, and bug fixes. Thank you for using Calíope!
