Sorrel reads copied text aloud on your Mac, with cleanup for links, markdown, code blocks, and other noisy formatting. Sorrel is a Mac read-aloud app for copied text. Paste something into Sorrel, clean up the parts you do not want to hear, and play it with a macOS voice. Use it when you want to listen to: - Long emails, articles, notes, and study material - AI chat answers with markdown, citations, and code blocks - Text copied from apps where built-in Speak Selection is awkward - Drafts you want to hear before sending Sorrel focuses on a simple local-first reading workflow: - Paste or replace text from the clipboard - Strip URLs, markdown, tables, code fences, citations, ANSI escapes, and custom patterns - Listen with Apple and macOS System Voice options - Follow sentence and word highlighting during playback - Pause, resume, stop, skip, seek, and adjust speed - Trigger reading from Shortcuts, Services, or the optional Option-Command-V hotkey - Keep recent reading history on this Mac, with controls to clear it The default voice path uses voices on your Mac. Optional cloud voice providers are available only if you add your own provider API key and choose that provider in Settings. Sorrel has a 14-day trial. After the trial, unlock the Mac App Store version with the one-time in-app purchase.
