PEDAQUE - PEDAL QUEST
Cycling: GPS rides & indoor
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
One phone, and the road you always ride becomes an adventure.
RIDE YOUR STORY
PEDAL QUEST is a cycling app that joins outdoor GPS rides, indoor recreations of the roads you rode, ghost races against your past self and other riders, training and time with friends into one place.
"Nothing should stand between you and the ride."
Expensive dedicated hardware and complicated setup are not conditions for starting. One smartphone is enough to ride today.
■ Ride outdoors
GPS records distance, time, elevation and climbs. The road you rode becomes a course you can ride again indoors.
■ Ride with friends
On a group ride you share your location with the others, and you can stop sharing at any time. Impact detection using the phone's accelerometer is supported, so a hard impact is easier for your friends to notice and check.
■ Ride indoors
Connects directly over Bluetooth to smart trainers, power meters, heart rate monitors and cadence sensors. Ride the routes you recorded outdoors, the climbs you collected, 3D courses or a workout.
■ Race ghosts
Call up your past self on the same course, or a published ride, and race it as a ghost. You do not have to be online at the same time - the record that was left behind is your opponent.
■ Keep your rides as a story
Distance, time, power, climbs, races, quests completed. What each ride leaves behind stacks up. PEDALFOLIO, your digital calling card, puts your rider profile, rider card and published ghosts on a single URL you can share.
■ Speed is not the only right answer
Recording something for the first time. Riding further than usual. Taking on a climb. Reaching a destination with friends. Achievement takes many shapes, and you find your next quest at your own pace.
■ Apple Watch
Measure heart rate and read your live numbers from your wrist as a cycling computer.
■ Apple Health
Sleep and heart rate are read from Health and shown as your condition. Indoor rides measured on Apple Watch are recorded to Health as workouts. You can change permission at any time, and rides and records work without it.

Fixes
- PEDAL CITY: the bundled city "PEDALIA" can be test-ridden in the app (Rider Note > PEDAL CITY tab; fixed speed, nothing is recorded; the first run downloads about 78 MB of city assets).
- PEDAL CITY test ride: the helicopter camera climbed to an absurd altitude, and the broadcast camera cut to overhead or bobbed up and down.
- Smart trainers without a crank sensor briefly showed 0 rpm while pedaling; a 0 while the trainer reports 30 W or more is held for up to 3 s, and the diagnostic log records each 0 rpm run.
- Other riders (public ghosts) did not appear after resuming an indoor ride.
- Outdoor rides started from Apple Watch showed 0 speed and distance while the iPhone was in a pocket; distance is now written to the watch workout.
- The feed post sheet did not scroll, hiding the Post button.
- Professor Pedal called rides with no date "today" and mixed today's wording into earlier rides; earlier rides are now dated first.
- Professor Pedal's conclusions are limited to what the finding verified (no more calling a steady heart rate a power record, or lower-than-usual output a raised baseline).
- For rides on a recovery workout, the Professor's note leads with whether you finished at the intended intensity.
- Sensor trouble in "Tell the professor" can name heart rate, power or cadence (unknown drops all three from the baseline), and the note is re-read right after you report.
1.0.22 1d ago
New
- Professor Pedal check-in: "Tell more" lets you report sensor trouble, mood, condition, equipment and time. Reports are reflected in the professor's reply and the coach's plan for today. The follow-up question is chosen from your answers and the ride. Right after you send, a sound, a vibration and stars confirm it was received.
- Coach safety: on a day you report pain, no menu is offered, not even a recovery ride. After 36 hours a single question ("still there / gone") checks in. You can set a goal (ride more, habit, feel well, weight, health) and today's plan and the rest guidance follow it.
- The "Professor & Analysis" card on the top screen goes straight to the Analysis tab. The tab is split into Professor, Records and Trends; fitness, fatigue, form and the reason and outlook for resting are grouped on the Professor pane.
- Strength trend: current ability (personal best) as a solid line, that day's record as a dotted line.
- Daily steps: the Wellness "Daily" tab shows each day's steps from Health and your own median. On high-step days the challenge menu is left out.
- The full map during a ride no longer closes when you touch the screen. It closes with the map button, × or the C key.
Fixed
- The next-morning reminder could not be turned on.
- Check-in answers were not synced to the account.
- On a day without a ride, the professor and the coach talked about the previous ride as "today".
- The Analysis chart was drawn at two thirds of the screen width on first display, and the position of the data / period selectors.
- The indoor ride setup screen ignored the device buttons while auto-connect was running; the tapped device now takes priority.
- Outdoor rides lost distance ridden while the screen was off: on devices that deliver location fixes late in batches, continuous segments are now counted.
- Estimated power is capped at 600 W peak and 200 W average.
- Sleep from Health is totalled under the waking date, without overlap inflating the hours.
- The coach follows today's report instead of an older fatigue estimate, and the professor compares like-for-like records.
1.0.21 4d ago
New
- Professor Pedal check-in: after a ride, answer two or three short questions about how you felt and get a reply that takes your previous answers into account. A next-day question, trends, and an optional next-morning reminder (choose 5–11 am, off by default). Answers are stored on the device; a private copy only you can read is synced.
- Analysis tab: every number has a subject and a unit, recent confirmed results fold with a trend chart, a Wellness tab, FTP time calculation with the 60-minute basis, and the screen keeps its position when you switch data or period.
- World records: on the Today board the name is shown next to the time.
- Watch-over: full-screen map with follow mode, a copy notice for the registration code, QR display and scanning, people currently sharing listed first, requests and permission from friends, rider icons.
- Records from other apps (GPX, TCX, FIT) are treated the same whether imported from Chronicle, the "+" in Activities or the share sheet: they are added to Activities and grant distance XP once.
- Indoor rides: portrait 3D fills the stage, the rider stays sharp while riding, higher 3D resolution on iPad, gaps to other riders in km and min:sec, and the HUD can be moved by pressing it.
- Rider profile: units in RIDER DATA sit on the same line as the numbers.
- The activity list shows 40 records at a time, so large histories stay fast.
- In-app text for general use is now translated in 44 languages instead of English placeholders.
Fixed
- Short outdoor rides that could not be sent ("cannot be accepted yet"). Rides held back so far are re-sent on the next sync.
- Ride time kept running while standing still indoors (the device's motion detection now counts as evidence of a stop).
- Walking records that stayed auto-paused.
- A crash right after launch on iOS.
- Faster loading when opening the profile, radar and Chronicle.
- Quality of attached records (TCX) and a 0-second ride time display.
- The diagnostics log limit is raised from 64 KB to 2 MB.
1.0.20 5d ago
New
- After the app is closed unexpectedly, an indoor ride returns straight to its stage and keeps going, with sensors reconnected through your registered bike.

- The small ride window no longer stops music or video in other apps, and it stays silent.
- Friend chat: long messages, a character count, read receipts and time stamps.
- Share images: new layout, colours by type, transparent versions, and a stats table for indoor rides.
- World records: boards for this week, this month and the season, with last week's and last month's top five.
- The indoor setup screen shows a guide to the content and a first-time walkthrough.
- Rides can be written to Health. Estimated power is shown on descents.
Improved
- Smoother riding: the profile save that ran every frame now runs every 10 seconds.
- Fixed speed sensor misdetection, 0 rpm cadence display, recovery heart rate lost during sync, imported record dates and deletion, and resuming location sharing.
- Recording is kept while the screen is off (LIVE MEET location sharing, companion records, indoor rides).
- With two trainers connected, resistance goes to the one you are riding. Level effects appear during roller rides.
- Feed: display, photo posts, comments, notifications and mute improvements; open a profile from the likes list.
- World records: fixed average speed, daily growth history and the title collection.
- World records: the daily board is finalized at 0:00, when the date changes.
- Dark mode: source tags and likes are easier to read.
- Walking the bike no longer pauses the recording; the distance is kept.
- Outdoor ride dates use the local calendar day of where you rode.
- Fewer duplicated gauges on the outdoor computer, and the battery diagnostics show missing data correctly.
- Activity badges share one size and typeface. Chat message numbers are gone and icons and times are aligned.
- Records that failed to send are set aside, and the on-device copy is lighter.

1.0.18 Sep 16
New
- Smaller app: extra riders, cheering crowds and the world-tree assets are fetched when you use them (automatically on Wi-Fi).
- FORM QUEST analyses your riding posture from a video or a photo: joint angles, an aero score, side-by-side comparison of recordings, and stills or clips exported with the skeleton overlaid.
- Event rosters can be imported from CSV or Excel. Contact details stay on the device, and organisers choose per event whether to share them.
- In city building, ride routes now follow the roads. A tap snaps to the nearest road, and two points are joined along the shortest way round.
- You can fly over your own city: ring time attacks, races against your ghost, and filming with cinematic filters.
- Events now have results: a ranking list, a share card and a finisher's certificate. Names and teams open PEDALFOLIO and TEAMFOLIO.
- A ride you end without saving stays in the bin and can be restored from your recent rides.
- GPX, TCX and FIT files from other apps can be brought in straight from the share menu.
- Your figures can ride along in a small window. You can change the tiles and the five-minute intensity bar without closing it.
- The home screen widget now shows how load and power are trending.
- On the indoor setup screen you can connect each device on the spot. ERG is now just an on/off switch for automatic resistance.
Improved
- A ride that ended early is restored with the distance you actually rode.
- Outdoors, a stretch with no position is filled in from the fixes on either side, so impossible speeds are no longer kept.
- Fixed resistance staying stuck on a downhill gradient. Trainers left switched off by an earlier version come back.
- World records can be submitted from trainer power, and a fresh FTP test is no longer overwritten by an older value.
- Heart rate keeps being recorded on indoor rides even when Apple Watch is showing the cycling computer page.
- Bug reports carry the diagnostic log and reach the team directly.
1.0.17 Sep 12
New
- The app now speaks 44 languages. Arabic, Urdu and Hebrew are laid out right to left.
- The home screen widget now shows the same figures as the analysis screen.
- Share cards can be exported with a transparent background, so they sit straight on top of your own photo.
- On the training screen, press and hold a HUD tile to change just that tile’s height. It stays that way.
Improved
- The app is lighter. Fonts for non-Latin scripts and 32 of the languages are fetched only when you pick that language.
- Power and cadence read more smoothly on indoor rides, and the replay figures hold steady.
- Bug reports now go straight to the team from inside the app.
- Rider category is worked out the same way in your profile and in PEDALFOLIO.

1.0.10 Aug 31
New
- DAILY LEGENDS - rebuilt with one card per category and clearer wording. Indoor and outdoor rides now share a single board.
- Your best world ranking of the day is celebrated once when you open the board (only on days you rode).
- Sensor setup now follows how you ride - rollers, smart trainer, or power meter each show only the devices they need. The way to find a device that never appears in the list sits in the same place.
- Sensor battery levels are now visible - on each row of the sensor screen before you start, and as a "Sensor battery" tile on the cycling computer (it shows the device with the least charge left).
- You can re-trim the section of a climb you already registered, and choose how the gradient is measured (50 m or 100 m).
- If you sign in with Google or Apple, you can now set a password from your profile.
Clearer
- The coach and stage radio now say "5 minutes" instead of "300 seconds", and describe what is happening in the race around you.
- The Pedal Doctor praises the effort you made instead of comparing you with others.
- Duplicated English labels were removed from the home screens and the headings are larger. Nothing breaks at 200% text size.
- Ride results now show time as hours:minutes:seconds.
Fixed
- The ride cinema music no longer restarts from the beginning when the film crosses to another day or the map moves. It plays through the whole screening.
- Saved climbs that still included flat approach are re-measured so distance and gradient cover the climb itself.
- Estimated power on rollers was re-calibrated against measured power.
- Fixed a case where the landscape HUD could extend past the edge of the screen.
- Fixed the rider chronicle wrongly saying the cloud could not be reached.
1.0.9 Aug 30
New
- Roller mode - you no longer need a smart trainer. A single speed sensor is enough to ride the world, on a wheel-on trainer or on rollers.
- "Just ride" - no roller setup required. The speed on your sensor becomes your speed in the world.
- "Feel the hills" - estimated power drives hills and wind. If the numbers do not match how it feels, adjust them in watts - or just tap "too low / about right / too high".
- When you stop pedalling, estimated power now fades to 0 W even if the wheel keeps spinning.
Changed
- Rides on rollers now earn EXP: the larger of half the distance value and your heart-rate effort over time (capped per hour). Measured-power rankings and record certification stay separate, as before.
Every roller is different. So PEDAL QUEST does not force one number on you.
Start your adventure with the roller you already have.
1.0.8 Aug 26
What's new
- Build Room - the reports you send us are now visible as "what we are fixing right now". You can open it from the banner inside Notices. You can also read how the team received each report and decided what to do about it
- When your report moves to "try it" or "done", only the person who reported it gets a notice
- When support replies to your message, your device now tells you
- First Steps - if you have just started, we guide you through what to try first, as a short quest
- "What you can do in PEDAL QUEST" is now gathered in one place, and the entry points on the top screen are tidied up
- You can name your own protected locations
- The app is now available in 12 languages
