PICUCalc: Pediatric Calculator
Infusions, antibiotics & CPR
$4.99 · Designed for iPad
Built by a pediatric intensivist for the whole team caring for children: pediatricians, residents, nurses and students. Works offline, no ads.
PICUCalc is the clinical calculator for the whole team caring for children: pediatricians, residents, nurses, emergency and critical care clinicians, and medical students. Enter the weight once and get doses, infusions, antibiotics and scores in seconds, even offline.
PATIENT
Enter weight, age and height once: BMI, body surface area (Mosteller) and maintenance fluids (Holliday-Segar) are calculated automatically and feed the rest of the app.
INFUSIONS
43 drugs with weight-based preparation and rate: vasoactives, sedation, analgesia, neuromuscular blockade and more. Peripheral-line dilution for the 6 classic vasopressors. N-acetylcysteine with both protocols. 3/6/9 % hypertonic saline from 20 % NaCl.
ANTIBIOTICS
60+ antimicrobials with daily dose, dose per administration, maximum dose and automatic renal adjustment across 4 renal function bands (based on Nelson's Pediatric Antimicrobial Therapy). Indication-specific dosing.
SCORES (40+)
Sepsis and severity: Phoenix, PODIUM, PELOD-2, PRISM III, VIS and sepsis phenotypes. Respiratory: Westley, Wood-Downes-Ferres, PRAM, asthma and bronchiolitis phenotypes. GI and liver: PELD, MELD/MELD-Na, PUCAI, STRONGkids. Emergency: PECARN, ESI, JumpSTART. Plus neurology, rheumatology, renal (KDIGO), sedation-analgesia and delirium.
CALCULATORS
Blood gases (Henderson-Hasselbalch and Stewart), oxygen delivery, ROX, OI, P/F, S/F, GFR, renal angina index, sodium and total body water, dehydration, diabetic ketoacidosis, dengue fluid management (PAHO/WHO) and lactate.
Take a photo of a blood gas report and PICUCalc reads and interprets the values. Copy the result to your patient's chart.
EMERGENCY
Pediatric CPR with timer and voice alerts following PALS 2025, airway and intubation parameters, and status epilepticus with weight-based doses.
EVIDENCE-BASED
Every calculation cites its source: PALS, ISPAD, ESPGHAN/ESPEN, PAHO/WHO, Nelson's, Taketomo and the original paper for each score.
BUILT AT THE BEDSIDE
Created by a pediatric intensivist for real work with children in the ER, the ward and the PICU, and for training those just starting out.
