Your originals are safer
Batch tools that replace originals now move them to the Trash
instead of overwriting them, so Put Back in Finder always undoes
an overwrite. Every write is also atomic now, meaning a crash or
a full disk can no longer leave a half-written file where your
original used to be. Replacing originals in a batch also asks for
confirmation first, and tells you how many files it will affect.
Better color filtering
Filtering by gray, black, or white is far more accurate. Photos
that are mostly a neutral color now match even when there is a
small colorful subject in frame, and shadows or overcast skies
are no longer mistaken for blue or brown.
Easier to get back
Edit and Develop now have the same Back button as the viewer,
so leaving them is obvious instead of a guess.
Smoother previews
Opening an image or video zooms out of the thumbnail you clicked
rather than fading in, and the transition no longer stutters.
