No account needed. Check download speed, DNS, response time, and LAN devices, then review results and control saved history in Settings.
Understand why your internet is slow, laggy, or stopping, why a website will not open, or why a printer cannot be found. Net Trouble Checker summarizes likely causes and practical next steps in clear results.
Designed for home and small-office networks, the app checks the areas related to the symptom you choose: download speed, connection information, the estimated router, external connectivity, DNS, response time, stability, and devices on the local network.
Common uses:
- Investigate slow internet over Wi-Fi or cellular data
- Compare response time, jitter, and loss when calls, video, or games lag
- Look for a printer or NAS on the same Wi-Fi network
- Check DNS and external connectivity when a website will not open
- Share a privacy-redacted result with family, an administrator, or support
Key features:
- Simple symptom-based diagnosis
- Download-speed measurement over Wi-Fi or cellular data, capped at about 8 MB or five seconds
- Connection information, estimated router, and IP address display
- Response time, loss, and jitter checks
- DNS hostname resolution checks
- Five individual tools for speed, DNS, LAN devices, Ping, and external connectivity
- LAN device list
- Clear results, next steps, and text sharing
- Optional on-device diagnosis history with individual or bulk deletion
- History and privacy controls available in Settings at any time
- FAQ, support page, local-network permission guidance, app information, and copied support information
- App version captured in generated diagnosis reports
Privacy and storage:
- No account required
- When history saving is on, diagnosis history is stored on the device
- Turning history saving off prevents new records; existing records remain until you delete them
- Shared reports redact IP addresses, MAC addresses, the estimated router, hostnames/DNS names, and LAN device names
- A shared report includes the app version at report creation for support context
- A version configured with a verified App Store destination adds a fixed app link after redaction; the link contains no user, device, diagnosis, history, or network identifier
- Copied support information includes app and OS details, device type, history-saving status, saved-history count, and ad-removal status
- Diagnosis results and history are not sent to the developer's server
- Diagnosis results and history are not included in ad requests
- On the first ad-supported launch, iOS asks for tracking permission before ads start. Allowing it can enable optional usage sharing when no previous choice exists and lets AdMob use the advertising identifier subject to regional consent. Denying it leaves usage sharing off and requests non-personalized ads. Usage sharing can be stopped in Settings at any time. Analytics events never contain IP addresses, hostnames, diagnosis text, or raw measurements.
Limitations:
Because of iOS restrictions, MAC addresses, detailed DNS server information, and complete discovery of every LAN device may not be available. The app uses short TCP connections and DNS resolution only as needed for diagnosis. The Ping tool uses five short TCP connections and does not download speed-test data. The slow-internet diagnosis and speed tool download up to about 8 MB or for up to five seconds from a public file, then calculate download Mbps on device from the bytes received and elapsed time. The speed needed depends on the activity, and results vary by location, time, concurrent network activity, network conditions, and device. A device not appearing does not necessarily mean it is broken.
