GPS City Guide: Audio Tours
Walking tours in 200+ cities
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
New: a photo at every stop so you know you’re in the right place. 202 cities. 3 stops free — no account.
GPS City Guide turns a city into a story you unlock one stop at a time.
Pick a city, put one earbud in, and start walking. As you reach each landmark, the app lets you know you have arrived. One tap and its story begins. No reading. No route to follow.
200+ CITIES WORLDWIDE, 5,900+ NARRATED STOPS
United States: New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Washington DC, New Orleans, Charleston, Savannah, Detroit, Baltimore, Charlotte, Grand Rapids and dozens more.
Europe: London, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Lisbon, Seville, Florence, Venice, Athens, Edinburgh, Dublin, Istanbul.
Beyond: Tokyo, Kyoto, Sydney, Mexico City, Agra.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Pick your city. 2. Walk wherever you want. There is no set order and no route to follow. 3. When you arrive at a stop, tap Play and the story begins. Prefer it fully hands-free? Turn on Auto-play on arrival in Settings.
WHY IT IS DIFFERENT
GPS knows when you arrive. A quick arrival card tells you which stop you are standing at, and one tap starts the story. Or switch on Auto-play and keep your phone in your pocket.
Real narration, not robotic text-to-speech. Every stop is recorded, never synthesized.
Written from the historical record, then fact-checked. You get a local history lesson, not a list of pins.
Plays on the lock screen and keeps going while you walk.
Download a city before you go and walk it with no signal at all.
Wander freely. Every stop sits on one map and you take them in any order.
Your location never leaves your device.
TRY IT FIRST
The first three stops in every city are free. No account, no card, no trial timer. Walk a few blocks, hear the city, then decide.
More cities land every month. Walk the city. It will tell you its stories.
The first three stops in every city are free. Unlock select cities individually, or get All-Access for every city, including new ones.
Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ All-Access is an auto-renewable subscription billed at $9.99/year. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Manage or cancel in your App Store account settings. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
Ratings & Reviews
Audio no longer starts on its own. When you reach a stop, a card lets you know you are close and you tap to play. When a story ends, the card offers the next stop on the route with its distance. Prefer the old behavior? Turn on Auto-play on arrival in Settings.
See every stop before you get there. Each stop on the Now Playing card now shows a photo of the place, so you can spot the building, the corner, or the monument from across the street and know you are in the right spot.
Find your cities faster. The Cities screen now keeps your recent cities at the top and lets you mark favorites with one tap. Your favorites and recents stay on your device and are ready the next time you open the app.
Browse the world by country. Cities are now grouped by country with a quick-jump index, so you can skim to Italy or Japan instead of scrolling one long list. Scroll position is remembered when you come back.
Fix location in one tap. If location access was turned off, a banner now explains what to do and takes you straight to the right Settings page. As soon as location is back on, the banner clears and your stops start playing automatically again.
Also in this update: general bug fixes and performance improvements.
Every city still includes the first three stops free, so you can try a tour before you unlock it.
