StageTray is a menu bar staging shelf for macOS — collect files, folders, links, text, and images in one place, then drag them out anywhere when you're ready. No shake gestures. No cloud uploads. No subscription. Just a fast, native Mac utility that stays out of your way until you need it. WHY STAGETRAY? Most Mac users juggle two kinds of tools: a drag-and-drop shelf (like Dropover) for moving files between apps, and a clipboard manager (like Paste or Maccy) for copy history. StageTray combines both in a single, lightweight app — with capture paths that work even when the shelf panel is closed. • Staging shelf — drop items in, drag them out later • Clipboard history — separate tab with filters, re-copy, and one-click Stage • Capture everywhere — menu bar drop, Share sheet, Finder Quick Action, Services menu, and ⌃⌥⌘V • Pin what matters — pinned items survive bulk discard and app restarts • Local only — your data never leaves your Mac. No accounts. No sync servers. No telemetry. STAGING SHELF Open the floating panel with ⌃⌥⌘D or click the menu bar icon. Drop files, folders, URLs, plain text, or images onto the compact drop zone. Each item shows a QuickLook thumbnail so you know exactly what you're holding. Drag items out to Mail, Messages, Finder, Slack, or any app that accepts drops. Enable "Remove after drag-out" to auto-clear unstaged items. Multi-select, AirDrop, Share, and Quick Look are built in. The menu bar icon fills when items are staged — a subtle at-a-glance indicator that something is waiting. CLIPBOARD TAB StageTray watches your clipboard in the background (optional) and keeps a searchable history — text, links, images, and files. Filter by type: All, Text, Links, Images, Files, or Pinned. Click any entry to re-copy it. Hit Stage to promote it to the shelf for drag-and-drop workflows. Password managers like 1Password and Bitwarden are ignored by default; add custom bundle IDs to exclude any app. Clipboard history and the shelf are intentionally separate — copy freely, stage only what you need to move. CAPTURE WITHOUT OPENING THE SHELF StageTray meets you where you already work: • Drop onto the menu bar icon — instant staging, panel stays closed • Share → Add to StageTray — from Safari, Notes, Preview, and any Share-enabled app • Finder Quick Action — stage one or many selected files • Services menu — stage selected text or file URLs from any app • ⌃⌥⌚V — stage the current clipboard contents in one keystroke Configure "Open shelf after capture" if you want the panel to appear; leave it off for silent, background collection. BUILT FOR macOS StageTray is a native SwiftUI app with App Sandbox, security-scoped bookmarks, and App Group extensions. Your staged files and clipboard entries persist safely across restarts.
