Most transcription apps only handle files you upload. TranscribeMachine records your microphone and your Mac's own system audio at the same time, so both halves of a conversation are captured.
That means video calls, podcasts, YouTube, lectures, webinars, voice memos and in-room meetings all work, transcribed as they happen rather than after the fact.
COMPLETELY PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Speech recognition runs locally using on-device AI. Your audio is never uploaded, never stored on a server, and never used to train anyone's model. There is no account to create and no cloud to trust.
On first launch the app downloads its speech recognition model, which is a one time setup step and needs an internet connection. After that you can switch your Wi-Fi off permanently and everything still works, because the model lives on your Mac from then on.

A NOTE ON PRIVACY
Plenty of apps describe themselves as private while still sending audio to a server for processing. TranscribeMachine has no such server. Once the model is downloaded on first launch, nothing about your recordings goes anywhere. The speech model and the AI summarizer both run inside the app on your own hardware, which is why it keeps working with the network switched off entirely.
