r53obd is a diagnostics, logging, and coding app built specifically for the first-generation MINI Cooper — the R50 hatch, R52 convertible, and R53 Cooper S. These cars are older than most modern scan-tool and coding apps bother with; the popular ones start at the newer CAN-bus MINIs. r53obd speaks the first-gen car's own language — right from your Mac.

• K+DCAN USB cable — a wired, coding-capable option that plugs straight into your Mac (macOS only).
• Many generic Bluetooth LE adapter (Veepeak and similar) — perfect for the free diagnostics tier: live data, fault codes, and VIN. Module coding and active tests require a coding-capable adapter (MX+, CX, or the cable).

• Active tests / actuator controls — relays, fuel pump, A/C clutch, cooling fans, EVAP, injectors, the throttle actuator, and more, with safety gating and confirmations.
• Adaptation resets — clear learned fuel, idle, and knock adaptations after service or parts changes.
• Service routines — an ABS/DSC brake-bleed cycle that runs the ABS pump to purge air a normal pedal bleed can't reach, a service-interval (SIA) reset for after an oil change or inspection, and instrument-cluster self-tests (needle sweep and warning-lamp check).
