Accordion: Gallery Compressor
Shrink videos, keep memories
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Most storage apps want you to delete your memories. Accordion Compressor shrinks them so you can keep them. It compresses on your device. You decide when originals go.
Your videos are eating your iPhone. Most apps solve that by deleting them.
Accordion Compressor never deletes anything on its own. It compresses.
Point it at the biggest videos in your library, choose a quality, and it writes a smaller copy back into Photos — same moment, same date, sitting right next to the original in your timeline. The original stays exactly where it is until you decide it can go.
WHAT IT DOES
• Sorts your library by size, so the videos actually costing you space come first
• Compresses one video, or hundreds in a single batch
• Three quality levels: original resolution, up to 1080p, or 720p at 30 FPS
• Builds previews from a sample of your own video, so you choose a quality by looking at it instead of guessing
• Plays the original and the compressed copy side by side, in sync, so you can judge the result before committing to it
• Writes the compressed copy into Photos with the original's date, location and camera details intact
• Works from the Photos app too: open a video, tap Share, choose Compress video with Accordion
• On iOS 26 and later, keeps compressing after you leave the app, and shows its progress
HOW THE SPACE ACTUALLY COMES BACK
We'll be straight with you, because this category usually isn't.
Compressing does not free space on its own. It puts a smaller copy next to your original, so for a while your library is bigger, not smaller.
The space comes back when the originals go — and that is your call, made after you've seen the compressed versions and you're happy with them. Accordion Compressor shows you which originals can be removed and how much space they are holding.
One thing iOS doesn't make obvious: deleted videos sit in Recently Deleted for 30 days and take up space the whole time. Empty that album if you want the space back today.
COMPRESSED ON YOUR PHONE
Compression runs entirely on your iPhone, using Apple's own video frameworks. Turn on Airplane Mode and videos already on your iPhone compress exactly the same (a video kept only in iCloud has to download first). Accordion Compressor never uploads your videos to us or to anyone else.
A SMALLER iCLOUD BILL
Smaller videos take up less room in iCloud Photos. If the bill you are actually trying to shrink is iCloud, this is the lever that moves it.
FREE AND PREMIUM
Compress up to 3 videos every 24 hours for free — every quality level, no watermark. Premium removes the daily limit and comes as a monthly plan, a yearly plan, or a one-time lifetime purchase.
Accordion Compressor compresses video. It does not compress photos.
