Model Railroad Record Keeper is the all-in-one companion for your layout. Built for serious operators and casual hobbyists alike, it keeps your roster, your operating jobs, your locations, and your inventory in one place — and it works entirely offline.
RUN OPERATING SESSIONS
Build a master job list with step-by-step instructions, assign locomotives, and define start and end locations and tracks. Everything you need to run a session is at your fingertips.
MANAGE YOUR ROSTER
Keep a detailed locomotive roster: road number, model, manufacturer, DCC or DC, sound, availability, photos, and the full F1–F28 function-key map for every engine.
MAP YOUR LAYOUT
Catalog your locations and the tracks at each one, plus the structures and devices that live there. Keep your whole railroad organized the way you actually operate it.
TRACK YOUR INVENTORY
Manage rolling stock, structures, electronics, tools, and scenery with a flexible category system, storage locations, value tracking, reorder reminders, and a "for sale" flag with asking price.
STAY ON TOP OF TO-DOS
A built-in task list with priorities, categories, and start/finish time tracking so you always know what's next on the layout.
KEEP YOUR REFERENCES HANDY
Save manuals, wiring diagrams, and reference links — including PDFs stored right on your device — and pull them up whenever you need them.
PRINT AND SHARE
Generate clean, native reports for your roster, job list, locations, inventory, and more. Print over AirPrint or export to PDF and share.
YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS
Model Railroad Record Keeper is a local-only app. There's no account to create, nothing is uploaded to a server, and it works with no internet connection. Your railroad lives on your device. Built-in backup and restore lets you save and move your data whenever you want.
DESIGNED FOR iPAD AND MAC
A clean, native interface that takes full advantage of the larger screen, with in-app help on every screen.
Ratings & Reviews
This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
This release fills in the details — more of what you actually record about a locomotive or a car, and less scrolling to find it.
• Locomotive records — the Basic tab is split in two so it isn't one long scroll, with Build Year and Horsepower added, the storage fields grouped together, and a Coupler Height OK tick.
• Rolling stock records — car specs arrive: empty and loaded weight, build year, capacity with its own units, and the loads a car can carry.
• Rolling stock list — column headings stay put while you scroll down the list, and dragging a column to a new width now lands where you put it.
• Locations list — a Turnouts column showing how many switches are at each location, totalled across the whole layout at the top of the screen. The printed Locations Summary carries it too.
• Custom Import — bring an inventory archive in, look over every row before anything is saved, and undo the whole import later if it turns out wrong.
• Copy an inventory item straight onto your locomotive or rolling stock roster, without retyping it.
• Photo editing — rotate in quarter turns, or straighten a shot that's a few degrees off level. Works on locomotives, rolling stock and inventory alike.
• Two backup locations, so you can choose where a backup goes.
• Layout Information now shows on the Layout screen.
• Fixed: photo imports that quietly brought no photos in, and imported prices that were line totals being read as each-item prices.
• This release requires iPadOS 18.
