Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Sail the Blakeney Pit in a Stiffkey Cockle, race AI fleets, chase world records, or find a live Game Center race. Trim the sheets and explore Norfolk’s tidal harbour.
Go sail the real Blakeney Pit - a beautiful Norfolk harbour sailing simulator where you helm a classic Stiffkey Cockle dinghy, trim the jib and mainsheet, and race for the line.
Whether you are learning to sail or sharpening your racing, Blakeney Pit Sailing puts you on the water with intuitive touch controls: steer with the rudder, ease the sheets, and work the wind to build speed.
COCKLE CLUB RACING
Race the way it's really done in the Pit. All 17 numbered racing buoys have been GPS-surveyed out in the harbour and placed in the game - real spar buoys, real positions, real local knowledge. Before every race the officer calls a fresh course: three to six buoys, each rounded to port or starboard, over one to three laps. No two races are the same.
• Authentic(ish) start procedure - hooter at 30 seconds, preparatory at 15, and a final hoot for the start
• Time your run to hit the line at speed - cross early and you're recalled
• Club racing rules - penalty turns of 360° for touching a mark, 720° for a collision
• A built-in guide to the course board, start signals and right of way
RACE, TRIAL & EXPLORE
• Cockle Club races against a mixed club fleet of AI crews
• Race Online - live Cockle Club races with other sailors via Game Center, everyone sailing the same course
• Arcade fleet races against club and expert AI crews

REAL SAILING FEEL
• Wind shifts, gusts, squalls and tide that affect your course
• Proper starts, mark roundings and laylines - AI crews that beat to windward like real sailors
• Penalty turns when you touch a mark or another boat
• Minimap, lap timer and live boat instruments
• Make your boat yours - customise the sail number, gunwale stripe, boat name and home port
CAMPAIGN & COURSES
Work through six arcade courses from a guided tutorial to the shifty Blakeney Pit triangle, a long Harbour Run, a scenic North Shore tour, and a demanding Championship trapezoid against expert rivals. Unlock new levels, earn stars, and post your best times to the leaderboards.
THE PIT
Set on the Norfolk coast beneath a real 360° panorama of the harbour - sunbathing seals, diving terns, moorings, cockle pontoons, Morston Quay, the lifeboat station, the barge Juno, and the old houseboat Mary. Seal-trip launches putter past; tenders buzz between the moorings. A living harbour, not an empty racetrack.
Hoist the sails. Time your run. Round the buoys the way the race officer calls them. Beat the fleet - or just go for a sail.

Version 1.3 — Welcome to the Cockle Club
This update brings real Cockle club racing to Blakeney Pit, just as it's sailed on the water.
The real Pit buoys, in their real places
All 17 numbered racing buoys have been surveyed by GPS out in the harbour and placed to scale in the game — from P off the start line, right along the Pit from 15 in the west to 6 in the east.
Every buoy is modelled on the real thing: cream spar buoys with painted black numbers, riding the swell exactly where you'd find them on race day.
If you know the Pit, you know this course — local knowledge counts.
Cockle Club Race — the new headline mode
The race officer sets a fresh course before every race: 3 to 6 buoys, each to be rounded to port or starboard, over 1 to 3 laps. No two races are the same.
Authentic start procedure: a hooter at 30 seconds, the preparatory signal at 15, and a final hoot for the start. Time your run to hit the line at full speed — cross early and you'll be recalled to start again.
Proper club rules: hit a buoy and you owe a 360° penalty turn; cause a collision as the give-way boat and it's 720°. No finishing until your turns are done.
New "How Cockle Club Racing Works" guide explains the course board, start signals, right of way and penalties.
Racing online
Online races are now always sailed to Cockle Club rules — every boat in the match gets the identical course and lap count.
Smarter fleet
AI boats now beat properly to windward, tacking up the laylines instead of stalling head-to-wind, and time their own runs at the start line.
A better-looking Pit
- The horizon now wraps the course in a real 360° panorama photographed from the Pit, blended into the water and sky.
- Cleaner HUD with a frosted-glass data card, decluttered minimap, and a corrected wind arrow.
- The starting hooter is now the real thing, too.
- Plus a redesigned main menu putting Cockle Club Race front and centre, and plenty of smaller fixes.
