AI FOOD SCANNER Point your camera at any food and CalFriendly's AI instantly identifies it, estimates macros, and flags bad ingredients. It also reads barcodes for packaged foods using USDA data. ADDED SUGAR ALERTS — PERSONALIZED TO YOU Most apps track total sugar. CalFriendly tracks added sugar — the kind that causes inflammation and insulin spikes. Limits are personalized by biological sex (25g women / 36g men, per the American Heart Association). Natural sugars from fruit and dairy don't count against your limit. MACRO TRACKING Clean calorie, protein, carbs, and fat rings on your home screen. Tap the protein card to see a detailed per-meal breakdown. Log meals by scanning or manually. BAD INGREDIENT DETECTION Scan any food and CalFriendly flags high-severity ingredients: seed oils, high fructose corn syrup, artificial dyes (Red 40, Yellow 5), BHA, BHT, TBHQ, and trans fats. Medium-severity flags include aspartame, sucralose, MSG, sodium nitrite, and refined flour. SUPPLEMENT TRACKER Track your daily creatine, protein shake, and multivitamin with dose flexibility. Marks off what you've taken and resets every day. MONTHLY SUGAR REPORT See your 30-day added sugar history with daily averages and color-coded health status (green / amber / red) under the Profile tab. MEAL IDEAS The Ideas tab gives you 6 healthy meal suggestions with real recipes. Toggle between quick and full cooking methods. Seed oil warnings appear for any recipe that contains them.
