TextShelf is a focused Mac app for reviewing collections of documents — contest entries, grant applications, manuscripts, submissions of any kind. Organize work into shelves • Each shelf is a single document you own (a .textshelf bundle) that lives in your iCloud Drive and syncs across your Macs. • Say what kind of shelf it is — Literary Contest, Grant Program, Academic Peer Review — and it starts with a rubric built for that job. Or choose Custom and write your own. • Drag in PDFs to fill it. Everything stays in one tidy package. Read and mark up PDFs • Highlight passages and attach threaded comments anchored to the exact text, so your notes survive even as you re-read. • Surface and re-anchor orphaned comments when a document changes. Score with rubrics • Every shelf scores on one rubric, so what you read stays comparable. • Edit the criteria whenever the standard set isn't how you judge. • Link a highlight to the criterion it supports. The Review tab counts the evidence behind each score, so you can see which criteria you haven't made the case for. • Move submissions through review states as you work. Learn it on the sample shelf • Open Sample Shelf, in the Help menu, gives you five fictional plays already highlighted, commented and scored — somewhere to learn the app that isn't someone's real work. • Built-in help answers a question by opening that sample at a live example, rather than describing one. Works with textshelf.com • Running a program on the web? An organizer can export a shelf's review packet, drop its files onto a shelf in the app, and read offline. • Scores your judges gave on the web import as read-only reviews, so you see the whole panel beside your own notes. Private by design • Your shelves live in your own iCloud — TextShelf operates no server that receives your documents. • No account, no sign-in, no tracking, no ads, no analytics SDKs. Built for the Mac • Spotlight indexing, Quick Look previews of shelves, and Share/AirDrop. • A native Mac app that keeps working with no network at all.
