Cliché: Disposable Camera
Get your guests' best shots
Only for iPhone
Free · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
One camera. Everyone invited. 12 photos each.
Cliché turns your night into a disposable camera. Your guests scan a QR code, everyone shoots, and nobody sees a thing until it's over. Then the roll develops and you all get photos of the same night.
WHY IT BEATS THE GROUP CHAT ALBUM
- 12 photos each, not one more. Every shot counts, so people put their phones away and actually show up.
- Nothing to see until the end. Nobody's comparing photos at the table, nobody's begging you to take it again.
- Bluetooth picks up who you were with. You get your moments, even the photos you didn't take.
HOW IT WORKS
- Create the roll and hold up its QR code. Your guests are in within seconds.
- Everyone shoots their 12 photos during the night. The roll stays closed while it develops.
- You open it when the party's over, up to a week later. Forget to, and it opens on its own.
- You get the whole roll, everyone else gets their moments.
MADE FOR
- Weddings, birthdays, festivals, bachelor and bachelorette parties
- At work: conferences, trade shows, offsites, company parties and happy hours
- Weekends away with friends, housewarmings, family reunions
- Or just a Saturday night, for no reason
YOUR PHOTOS STAY BETWEEN YOU
- No feed, no followers, no ads
- Only the people who were there see the photos
- You pick how many photos everyone gets, 12 by default
No photographer. No 2,000-photo album where you don't recognize anyone. Just your night, developed for the people who lived it.
more okay wait… i actually get the hype around cliché now. 😭it’s basically like having your own little camera roll from whatever you’re doing with your friends. everyone takes pictures, and you can actually get the photos you’re in without having to chase everyone down afterward.the auto-airdrop feature is probably my favorite because i’m terrible at remembering to ask people to send me pictures. and the fact that you can even use it to block certain apps during events?? genius.10/10 for anyone who’s always like “wait, send me that picture” 😂

Had a birthday party for my friend the other week and rather than iCloud group photos tried this. Everyone loved it and can’t wait to use it for the next gathering!

Very useful and nice to share and connect with friends

Your event page now shows the roll itself. Host a party, and every cliché your guests took is right there, ranked by likes, the most loved one wearing the trophy. Hold the right edge of a photo and the roll runs forward on its own, hold the left edge and it runs back.
Big rolls feel right again too. On a roll with a few hundred photos, the little progress bars at the top used to run off the screen and take every button with them. They now slide along as you tap, fade at the edges and tell you how many photos are still ahead, however big the night was.

Big rolls work again. On a roll with a few hundred photos, the little progress bars at the top ran off the screen and took every button with them, and that is fixed: the bars now slide along as you tap, fade at the edges and tell you how many photos are still ahead, however big the night was.
Two small joys came with the fix. Hold the right edge of a photo and the roll runs forward on its own, hold the left edge and it runs back. And when you host an event, its page now shows the roll itself: every cliché your guests took, ranked by likes, the most loved one wearing the trophy.

Big rolls work again. A 25-guest baptism gave us a 163-photo event roll, and the little progress bars at the top, one per photo, ran off the screen and took every button with them: no heart, no comments, no way to see who took what. Sorry about that. The bars now slide along as you tap, fade at the edges and tell you how many photos are still ahead, however big the night was.
Two small joys came with the fix. Hold the right edge of a photo and the roll runs forward on its own, hold the left edge and it runs back. And when you host an event, its page now shows the roll itself: every cliché your guests took, ranked by likes, the most loved one wearing the trophy.

The roll now belongs to the event. Host a party, and every cliché your guests take lands on one shared roll for the whole guest list, whoever happened to stand next to whom. Join late and you still see everything once the host reveals it. Until now the photos followed the phones in Bluetooth range, which at a 25-guest baptism left the host with ten pictures out of a hundred and sixty. That one is fixed.
The people behind the photos have their names back too: the roll of an event shows who took each cliché, even when you are not friends on Cliché yet.

If you hosted an event and your own page kept saying the photos would join the roll once the event starts, while your guests were already scrolling through them, that one is on us, and it is fixed. Your roll now opens right from the event page, the same yellow button your guests have had all along.
Your photos were never lost, by the way: they were waiting in your rolls on the camera the whole time.

New: three little tips welcome you the first time you open the camera.
Fixed: the developed viewfinder now stays upright when your phone rotates.
1.4.1 Aug 27
New: the camera shelf. Pick one of 11 legendary film cameras, from the Kodak FunSaver to the Polaroid SX-70, and shoot through its look: real film colors, grain and glow, tuned for each camera. The viewfinder shows the film look live, before you even take the photo. The original iPhone sits on the shelf too, for the no filter purists.
1.4.0 Aug 12
The sign-in screen now opens on real film photos, one for every kind of night: a wedding bouquet toss, a concert, a road trip.
Event albums now carry their event name, so the wedding album says whose wedding it was.
And Cliché taps you on the shoulder when friends are around and the night is worth shooting.
1.3.6 Aug 10
The camera never locks again. Alone? Your shots land on a solo roll, one per day, that develops the next morning. Cross paths with a friend and a shared roll starts like always. Also in this update: more reliable friend detection nearby.
1.3.5 Aug 9
A cliché taken together could land twice in the same album, and send a second notification with it. One press of the shutter, one photo, one notification.
Pinch to zoom now works in the album.
Opening Cliché with no connection no longer leaves you on a black screen: the app lets itself in as soon as you are back online.
A friend you have just spent the evening with no longer shows up as last seen three weeks ago.
1.3.4 Aug 4
Dual camera. Cliché now shoots with both cameras at once: your friend in the frame, you in the corner, the same instant. Tap the inset to choose which one owns the picture.
Photos taken sideways stay sideways in the album, and every shot is saved upright whatever angle you held the phone at.
The viewfinder lost its white frame. It now tells you when the camera or Bluetooth is switched off, with a button that fixes it.
Developing an album opens on its intro, with the dates of the night.
Notifications and Live Activities are more reliable, plus a long list of smaller fixes.
1.3.3 Aug 2
Your iPhone becomes a real camera. Press a volume button or the Camera Control to take a cliché, and put Cliché on your Lock Screen to shoot without unlocking your phone.
Also in this update:
• Sneak peek, rethought: long-press to preview your own developing shots as often as you want — your friends' photos stay sealed until the reveal.
• Live updates now arrive instantly, even in big groups, and the whole app feels lighter.
• Notifications get their blurred preview back, banners carry the event's name, and a developed group album counts its crowd.
• Left the party early? The album now teases you about it.
• A retouched app icon.
1.3.2 Jul 31
A new look. The app icon and the welcome screen are now illustrated — one drawing per kind of night: concerts, weddings, birthdays, road trips, festivals.
Also in this update:
• The Live Activity names one steady group instead of flickering between names when someone walks away.
• The Bluetooth mark replaces the generic signal icon everywhere someone can show up around you.
1.3.1 Jul 28
The camera has a voice now
When you unlock the camera, you hear Cliché's first sound: a rising do-mi-sol. The locked camera tells you everything in three words, and when someone's next to you, a tile tells you what unlocking will do before it tells you who you're with.
A QR code on every screen
Every screen that starts a roll now shows its QR code. To get a whole room in, you hold up your phone, that's it. No more hunting for a link. And to invite someone by username, there's a magnifying glass.
Your events follow you, not your phone
Your event list reloads from the server. A party you created or joined finds you wherever you sign in, even on a brand new phone.
Changed your mind?
Say no and the card sticks around until the event date, so you can come back with one tap from the list. No more digging out the invite link.
Also in this version: one Live Activity per roll per person, instead of a Lock Screen that stacked them. A start notification that gets a full minute to land, instead of now or never. Show up late and you join the roll everyone's already on, without waiting on the server. Swiping back to the camera no longer opens a roll on the way out. And creating an event has its own little haptic.
1.3.0 Jul 27
A Cliché widget for your home screen
One small square that always shows the right thing: your live event and its cliché count, a countdown once the next one is less than a day away, and the rest of the time a random memory from a past roll. Tap it and you land straight on that photo.
Rolls now open on their own cover
Before the first cliché, a Kodak poster: the roll's name, its date, how many clichés, how many guests, and every print raining in before a 3-2-1 rolls you into the night.
Likes and comments stay with their photo
Hearting the third cliché no longer hearts the whole roll, and each comment belongs to the photo you were looking at.
Seven days to reveal, instead of 48 hours
Revealing a roll is the host's call, full stop. Take the week. And if you never press it, the album still arrives on its own.
A roll that holds together
Your camera, your Lock Screen and your friend's phone now count the same clichés left — through a night apart, a dropped Bluetooth link and a reconnection the next morning. One cliché rings once, on one roll. And a roll that runs past twelve hours closes cleanly, so the next one can start.
Also in this version: a new app icon, friend search right inside the Friends sheet, a camera that no longer flashes a stale frame when it wakes, and faster loading for everyone opening Cliché from the United States.
1.2.0 Jul 26
The live moment on your lock screen now ends right when you and your friends part ways. No more ghost activities lingering for hours, and the app recovers gracefully if you swipe one away yourself.
1.1.5 Jul 24
A fresh roll of film in this one:
- Brand-new Live Activity: black, minimal, with a real film counter and a one-tap shortcut to the camera
- The photo counter is now a mechanical film wheel that clicks down with every cliche (go ahead, try to spin it)
- Being offline is now no big deal: a thin banner tells you your cliches will send themselves later
- Event covers stay clean, no more surprise emoji on top of your photo
- Developing albums look better in the dark(room)
- Bigger, easier-to-tap buttons in your friends list
- Fixed duplicate Live Activities after relaunching the app
1.1.4 Jul 19
Your event goes further:
- Scan an event QR code with the camera to join instantly
- New share sheet: QR code, WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, Telegram — and download the QR to print it
- Your cover photo now stars on the invite link
- Invite guests by username, they get a push and answer from the hub
- Pick your event's duration when you create it
- A refreshed How it works, smoother loading, and fixes
1.1.3 Jul 19
Say hello to event albums. Create your event album in seconds, invite guests with a link or QR, and every photo they take at the event lands in one shared album. New: a full guest list with RSVP statuses (going, maybe, not going), a Maybe answer on invitations, a nicer creation flow, and a smarter share card.
1.1.2 Jul 16

• Add a custom cover to your event

1.1.1 Jul 16

• Your events, upcoming and past, get their own space inside the camera
• Bug fixes and polish
1.1.0 Jul 15
New analog viewfinder with real vintage-camera details: Kodak-yellow corner brackets and a mono clock. Your story now reads left to right, oldest to newest, like a real timeline. Plus fixes to push notifications, photo deletion, and picking up where you left off.
1.0.7 Jul 12
Your cliches now develop like real 90s film: every photo gets the warm grain of a Kodak disposable camera.
Also in this update:
- Sneak peek reveals only the photo you chose
- An album emptied of its photos now disappears instantly
- A photo deleted on one device now disappears on your other devices too
- The lock screen Live Activity shows the real number of cliches taken
- Smoother transitions between photos
1.0.6 Jul 12
Polished the welcome scene from the last update. The lines land in the right order now, and it's clearer what Cliché actually is. Plus small fixes.
1.0.5 Jul 11
New welcome screen when you join: the group chat scene we all know ("take another shot", "show me the pic", "send me the pic") and why it's over. Plus small fixes and polish.
1.0.4 Jul 10
Your event page now shows the roll itself. Host a party, and every cliché your guests took is right there, ranked by likes, the most loved one wearing the trophy. Hold the right edge of a photo and the roll runs forward on its own, hold the left edge and it runs back.
Big rolls feel right again too. On a roll with a few hundred photos, the little progress bars at the top used to run off the screen and take every button with them. They now slide along as you tap, fade at the edges and tell you how many photos are still ahead, however big the night was.
